## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Bill 96 Bulk Storefront Auditor: French-Parity at Scale

Audits a list of Shopify and other storefronts for French-language parity under Quebec's Bill 96 / Charter of the French language. Each store is one dataset item. The score is the **MasterInvictus French-parity score (not legal advice)**, from 0 to 100.

This is an automated heuristic, not legal advice and not a finding by the Office québécois de la langue française.

**Input:** `storefrontUrls[]` (required; defaults to `https://www.ssense.com`), `maxPagesPerStore` (default 5, max 50), `maxConcurrency` (default 4), `requestTimeoutSecs` (default 20), `respectRobotsTxt` (default on). An empty input audits that one store and stops after 5 pages.

**What is crawled, per store:** the homepage, then key pages up to the page cap. Candidates come from `Sitemap:` lines in `/robots.txt`, from `/sitemap.xml` (including nested sitemap indexes), and from same-origin links on the homepage. Collections, products, policies, cart, and the checkout entry are taken first. Standard Shopify paths (`/cart`, `/checkout`, `/collections/all`, `/policies/…`) are requested only when that kind of page was not already found. A fallback that 404s is recorded as not found and is not billed. `robots.txt` disallow rules are honored (including a crawl-delay, capped at 5 seconds). Requests time out individually and stay within `maxConcurrency`.

**French pairing:** each discovered page is matched to one French counterpart. The actor reads `<link rel="alternate" hreflang="fr">` (`fr`, `fr-CA`, or any `fr-*`), then tries locale swaps (`/en-xx/` to `/fr-xx/`, `/en/` to `/fr/`, `en.` to `fr.`, and `?lang=fr`) and keeps the first URL that returns 200. When that French page exists, its content is what gets audited, and the result records the pair (`enUrl`, `frUrl`). The same pair is checked once. A missing-French issue is recorded only when no French version can be found. Confirming the counterpart does not add a second `page-checked` charge.

**Checks on each page:**

- French version available (the page is French, or a confirmed hreflang / locale counterpart returned 200)
- French at least as prominent (French text is not outweighed by English, and a separate French URL is at least as long)
- Untranslated product titles and descriptions, judged on the French page when a counterpart exists
- English-only policies
- Images whose alt text is English-only, judged on the French page when a counterpart exists
- Visible language switcher (a Français link, locale option, or an English link on either side of the pair)

Language detection is the same franc-based logic as `bill96-french-parity-checker`, copied into this actor because each actor image only contains its own directory.

**Output:** one dataset item per store with `score`, `scoreLabel` (**MasterInvictus French-parity score (not legal advice)**), `scoreBreakdown`, `pages[]` (issues and fix suggestions per page), and store-level `fixSuggestions`. A summary CSV is saved in the key-value store as `SUMMARY.csv`.

The run fails when the input is invalid or when zero pages could be checked.

### Pricing (pay-per-event)

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| `run-started`, once per run after at least one page is fetched successfully | $0.02 |
| `page-checked`, once per logical page checked successfully (a French counterpart fetch is not a second charge) | $0.004 |

Failed pages are free. Do not enable `apify-actor-start`. See [PRICING.md](PRICING.md).

### Score

The **MasterInvictus French-parity score (not legal advice)** is a weighted average of the checks that could be assessed: French availability (25), French prominence (20), product translation (20), policies (15), image alt text (10), and a homepage language switcher (10). A category with nothing to assess (no product pages, for example) is left out and the other weights are renormalized. 100 means every assessed check passed.

### Limits

Visible HTML only. JavaScript-only storefronts show little text. Text inside images is judged from the alt attribute, not from pixels. Short strings under 20 characters are not language-detected.

# Actor input Schema

## `storefrontUrls` (type: `array`):

Shopify or other online-store homepages. One store is audited per URL. When omitted, the run audits https://www.ssense.com.

## `maxPagesPerStore` (type: `integer`):

Key pages checked per store: home, collections, products, cart, checkout entry, policies, and footer links. The default of 5 keeps a run that uses only the defaults short.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many HTTP requests may be in flight at once, across every store in the run.

## `requestTimeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

Per-request timeout. A timed-out page is a failed page and is not billed.

## `respectRobotsTxt` (type: `boolean`):

Skip URLs disallowed for this actor and honor Crawl-delay (capped at 5 seconds).

```
# Actor output Schema
## `stores` (type: `string`):
One dataset item per store, including the MasterInvictus French-parity score (not legal advice), per-page issues, and fix suggestions.
## `summaryCsv` (type: `string`):
One row per store in the key-value store, including the MasterInvictus French-parity score (not legal advice).
