## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Intelligence — Apps, Top Charts, Reviews & Rank Monitoring

One Actor for **Apple App Store research and monitoring**, built on Apple's **official public APIs** (iTunes Search & Lookup API and Apple's RSS feeds) — no browser, no login, no fragile HTML scraping.

**Four modes:**

1. **Search** — apps for any keyword in any country, with their search position.
2. **App details** — 30+ fields per app from a URL, numeric ID or bundle ID: rating, rating count, current-version rating, price, version, release dates, size, genre, languages, developer, icon and screenshots.
3. **Top charts** — top free / paid / grossing by country, optionally per genre (Games, Business, Finance…).
4. **Reviews** — the most recent reviews per app and country (rating, title, text, app version, date). Reviewer identities are **not** collected.

**Monitoring mode** (schedule daily or hourly) outputs **only what changed**: apps entering, leaving or moving in a chart, version releases, price changes, rating moves, and new reviews. Great for ASO agencies, mobile studios, investors and competitor tracking.

### Input examples

Top 100 free apps in 3 countries:

```json
{ "mode": "charts", "chartType": "top-free", "countries": ["us", "gb", "fr"], "maxItems": 100 }
```

Daily rank tracking of the Finance top grossing chart:

```json
{ "mode": "charts", "chartType": "top-grossing", "genreId": 6015, "countries": ["us"], "maxItems": 200, "monitorMode": true, "monitorId": "finance-us" }
```

Competitor watch (new versions, price & rating changes):

```json
{ "mode": "apps", "apps": ["https://apps.apple.com/us/app/notion/id1232780281", "com.spotify.client"], "countries": ["us"], "monitorMode": true }
```

New reviews only:

```json
{ "mode": "reviews", "apps": ["1232780281"], "countries": ["us", "gb"], "monitorMode": true }
```

### Output (app)

```json
{ "type": "app", "country": "us", "appId": "1232780281", "bundleId": "notion.id", "name": "Notion: Notes, Tasks, AI",
  "developer": "Notion Labs, Incorporated", "price": 0, "rating": 4.79, "ratingCount": 91234, "version": "3.21.0",
  "currentVersionReleaseDate": "2026-09-24T15:02:11Z", "genre": "Productivity", "sizeMB": 142.3, "url": "https://apps.apple.com/…" }
```

Charts return `rank`, `appId`, `name`, `developer`, `genre`; in monitoring mode also `changeType` (`entered` / `left` / `moved-up` / `moved-down`), `previousRank` and `rankChange`.

### Pricing (pay per event)

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| App detail (search result or app lookup) | $0.0015 |
| Review | $0.0004 |
| Chart snapshot (one chart × one country, up to 200 apps) | $0.01 |
| Change event (monitoring) | $0.002 |

Example: top 100 in 10 countries, daily = **$0.10/day**. 1,000 reviews = **$0.40**.

### Notes & limits

- Apple returns at most ~500 recent reviews per app and country, and up to 200 search results per keyword.
- Charts without a genre use Apple's Marketing Tools feed (top 100); genre charts use the classic RSS feed (top 200).
- Data comes from Apple's public APIs; use it in line with Apple's terms. No personal data is collected.

What to fetch: search results, app details, top charts or reviews.

## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):

Mode 'search'. One keyword per line.

## `apps` (type: `array`):

Modes 'apps' and 'reviews'. App Store URL, numeric app ID (e.g. 284882215) or bundle ID (e.g. com.spotify.client).

## `countries` (type: `array`):

2-letter App Store country codes (us, gb, fr, de, jp…).

## `chartType` (type: `string`):

Mode 'charts'. Top grossing is only available together with a genre.

## `genreId` (type: `integer`):

Mode 'charts'. Apple genre ID, e.g. 6000 Business, 6013 Health & Fitness, 6014 Games, 6015 Finance, 6017 Education, 6007 Productivity, 6023 Food & Drink. Empty = all apps.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Search: up to 200. Charts: up to 200 (100 without genre). Reviews: up to 500 per app and country (Apple limit).

## `includeDescription` (type: `boolean`):

Include the full App Store description text for each app (makes results larger).

## `monitorMode` (type: `boolean`):

Charts: outputs apps that entered, left or moved in the chart. Apps: outputs rating, rating count (±5%), version and price changes. Reviews: only new reviews. First run = baseline.

## `monitorId` (type: `string`):

Optional name for monitoring mode. Runs with the same ID only output what changed since the previous run.
