# Shopify Store Monitor — Price Drops, New Products & Stock (`mattzer/shopify-store-monitor`) Actor

Track competitor Shopify stores. Get the full catalog once, then only the changes: new products, removed products, price increases and drops, back-in-stock and sold-out variants — with a per-store summary.

## Pricing

from $2.00 / 1,000 change events

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Shopify Store Monitor — Price Drops, New Products & Stock Changes

Keep an eye on **competitor Shopify stores** without reading thousands of rows. The first run saves a baseline; every next run returns **only what changed**:

- 🆕 **new products** and new variants
- 🗑️ **removed products** and variants
- 📉 **price drops** / 📈 **price increases** (with previous price and % change)
- ✅ **back in stock** / ⛔ **sold out** per variant
- 📊 a **summary row per store**: products, variants, items on sale, out-of-stock count, median price, and counts of each change

Schedule it daily (or hourly during sales) and send the dataset to Google Sheets, Slack or email with Apify integrations.

Need the full catalog instead? Switch **Output** to *Full catalog* to get one row per variant (price, compare-at price, SKU, stock, vendor, type, tags, image, URL).

### Input

```json
{
  "stores": ["allbirds.com", "https://www.gymshark.com"],
  "mode": "changes",
  "trackStock": true,
  "minPriceChangePct": 5,
  "monitorId": "footwear-competitors"
}
```

- **collection** — watch only one collection (e.g. `sale`, `new-arrivals`).
- **minPriceChangePct** — ignore small price moves.
- **monitorId** — baselines are stored per watch list, so you can run several lists independently.

### Output (change)

```json
{
  "store": "https://www.allbirds.com", "changeType": "price-drop", "productTitle": "Men's Tree Runners",
  "variantTitle": "Basin Blue / 10", "sku": "TR3MBBL100", "price": 79, "previousPrice": 98, "priceChangePct": -19.39,
  "compareAtPrice": 98, "available": true, "vendor": "Allbirds", "productType": "Shoes",
  "url": "https://www.allbirds.com/products/mens-tree-runners?variant=…", "scrapedAt": "2026-09-29T08:00:00.000Z"
}
```

### Pricing (pay per event)

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Store scanned (per store, per run) | $0.01 |
| Change event (new / removed / price / stock) | $0.002 |
| Catalog row (full-catalog mode, per variant) | $0.001 |

Example: monitoring 20 stores daily with ~30 changes/day ≈ **$0.26/day**. Summary rows are free.

### How it works & limits

Shopify stores expose their public catalog at `/products.json`. The Actor paginates it (250 products per page), stores a compact snapshot per variant, and diffs it on the next run. A safety check skips the diff if a store suddenly returns a partial catalog, so you never get false "removed" floods.

Password-protected stores, stores that disabled the JSON endpoint, and non-Shopify sites return an `error` row. Only product data is collected — no customer or personal data. Respect each store's terms of service.

# Actor input Schema

## `stores` (type: `array`):

Store URLs or domains (e.g. allbirds.com, https://shop.example.com). Must be Shopify stores.

## `mode` (type: `string`):

In 'changes' mode the first run saves a baseline and outputs a summary only; next runs output new/removed products and price/stock changes.

## `trackStock` (type: `boolean`):

Output back-in-stock / sold-out events per variant.

## `minPriceChangePct` (type: `integer`):

Ignore price moves smaller than this percentage.

## `collection` (type: `string`):

E.g. 'sale' or 'new-arrivals'. Empty = whole store.

## `maxProductsPerStore` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of products fetched per store (0 = no limit).

## `monitorId` (type: `string`):

Name of this watch list — baselines are stored per Monitor ID.

## `proxy` (type: `object`):

Datacenter proxy is enough for most stores.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "stores": [
    "https://www.allbirds.com"
  ],
  "mode": "changes",
  "trackStock": true,
  "minPriceChangePct": 0,
  "maxProductsPerStore": 10000,
  "monitorId": "default",
  "proxy": {
    "useApifyProxy": true
  }
}
```
