## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Marketing Pixel & Tech Stack Detector

Paste a list of websites and get back, for each one:

- **Marketing & tracking tags**: Meta Pixel, Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight, Pinterest, Snap, X, Microsoft UET, Reddit, Taboola, Outbrain, Criteo, Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity and more. The **tracking IDs** are included (e.g. `G-XXXXXXX`, `GTM-XXXX`, Pixel IDs).
- **Missing tracking**: which core tags (Meta Pixel, GA4, GTM, Google Ads, TikTok) are *not* on the site. This is useful for agencies looking for businesses that need marketing help.
- **Platform & tech stack**: CMS, website builder and e-commerce platform (WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Webflow, WooCommerce, Magento…), plus chat widgets, email marketing, CRM forms, payments, cookie consent, accessibility widgets, booking tools, reviews, CDN, server and JS framework. More than 180 technologies are covered.
- **Public contacts**: business emails, `tel:` phone numbers and social profiles (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, X, Pinterest, WhatsApp) published on the homepage.

It runs fast and cheap: plain HTTP, no browser, and 20+ sites are processed in parallel.

### Who uses it

- **Marketing agencies** use it for prospecting, for example to find e-commerce stores without a Meta Pixel or GA4, or to audit a client's tags in seconds.
- **Sales teams** use it to qualify leads by platform ("all Shopify stores using Klaviyo") and to collect their contact links.
- **AI agents** use it as a quick "what does this website run?" tool call.

### Pricing

Pay per event: you are charged **only for websites that were analyzed successfully**. Unreachable sites, timeouts and sites that refuse automated access are returned with an `error` field and are free.

### Good to know

- The tool reads the homepage HTML the way a single browser visit would. It does not use proxies and does not try to get around bot protection. Sites that refuse automated access (HTTP 403/429) are reported, not retried.
- Tags that a site injects only at runtime through Google Tag Manager cannot be seen in the HTML. When GTM is present, `tagsMayLoadViaGtm` is `true`, so treat `missingTracking` as "not found in the page source".
- Only contact details that the business itself publishes on its homepage are collected. If you process personal data, you are responsible for using it in line with the laws that apply to you (GDPR, CAN-SPAM, anti-spam laws).

### FAQ

**Why does a site show a tag as missing when I know it has it?**
Some sites inject tags at runtime through Google Tag Manager, so they never appear in the HTML. When GTM is present, `tagsMayLoadViaGtm` is `true` — treat `missingTracking` as "not found in the page source".

**How much does it cost?**
You pay only per result (see the Pricing tab) — no subscription. Apify's free plan includes monthly credit, so you can try it for free.

**Can I run it on a schedule?**
Yes. Click **Schedule** in Apify Console to run it hourly, daily or weekly, and get the results by email, webhook, Google Sheets or Slack.

**Can I use it from my code or an AI agent?**
Yes — call it through the Apify API (JavaScript and Python clients), connect it to Make, Zapier or n8n, or let Claude, ChatGPT and other agents use it via the Apify MCP server.

**Something doesn't work — what now?**
Open an issue on the **Issues** tab. I usually reply within a day and ship fixes fast.
