## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## TrustRadius Product Battlecard

Private Apify Actor: **one product URL or name → reviews + product battlecard + optional multi-product compare**.

Not another review dump. Positioning vs Store incumbents (e.g. zen-studio):

1. Clear failure codes (`cloudflare`, `not_found`, `empty_reviews`, `blocked_403`)
2. Product-level **battlecard** record (score, alternatives, ROI themes, competitors)
3. **Multi-product compare** in one run
4. Built-in **slug resolve / search fallback** when URLs or slugs go stale

> v1 is private. Do **not** Store-publish until you decide pricing/readiness.

### Requirements

- Node 18+
- Apify account with **residential proxy** (`PROXY_RESIDENTIAL`) for cloud runs
- Local residential needs **Proxy external access** enabled (otherwise local runs use your home IP)

TrustRadius sits behind Cloudflare. Without a real browser + residential proxy, expect blocks.

### Input

| Field | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `startUrls` | HubSpot + Slack | Product `/reviews` URLs |
| `productQueries` | `[]` | Names/slugs resolved via TrustRadius search |
| `maxReviews` | **10** | Trial-friendly |
| `maxProducts` | 5 | Hard cap 10 |
| `useResidentialProxy` | `true` | Required on cloud |
| `proxyCountryCode` | `US` | |

#### Example

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    { "url": "https://www.trustradius.com/products/hubspot-crm/reviews" }
  ],
  "productQueries": ["monday.com", "amplitude"],
  "maxReviews": 10,
  "maxProducts": 5
}
```

### Output (`recordType`)

- **`review`** — title, rating, pros/cons, LTR, firmographics when present (`null` + warnings when missing; never invented)
- **`battlecard`** — product snapshot, alternatives, ROI themes, competitor set
- **`compare`** — written when ≥2 products succeed (side-by-side + shared alternatives/competitors)
- **`error`** — per-product soft failures with `errorCode`

Key-value: `RUN_SUMMARY` with counts and per-product status.

### Pricing (PPE)

| Event | Price | Trial |
|---|---|---|
| `review` | **$0.003** ($3 / 1k reviews) | Configure **10 free** events in Console → Monetization |

Battlecard + compare are included (no separate charge in v1).

After `apify push`, open the Actor → **Monetization** → Pay-per-event → add `review` @ $0.003 with 10 free units. Do not Store-publish yet.

### Local / cloud

```bash
npm install
npx playwright install chromium   # local only
apify login
apify run --purge                 # local (proxy external access optional)
apify push                        # private cloud Actor
```

Cloud smoke (2 products × 10 reviews) after push:

```bash
apify call -i '{"startUrls":[{"url":"https://www.trustradius.com/products/hubspot-crm/reviews"},{"url":"https://www.trustradius.com/products/slack/reviews"}],"maxReviews":10}'
```

### Tests

```bash
npm test
```

### Legal / ethics

Scrapes **public** TrustRadius pages only. No login. Respect robots/ToS for your use case; do not invent reviewer data; null missing PII.

This Actor and its source are **private** — not open source and not Store-published.

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

TrustRadius product review page URLs, e.g. https://www.trustradius.com/products/hubspot-crm/reviews

## `productQueries` (type: `array`):

Product names or slugs to resolve via TrustRadius search when URLs are unknown (e.g. "monday.com", "amplitude").

## `maxReviews` (type: `integer`):

Maximum review rows to extract per product. Default 10 matches the free trial allowance.

## `maxProducts` (type: `integer`):

Hard cap on products processed in one run (compare view supports up to 10).

Required for Cloudflare on TrustRadius. On Apify Cloud this uses RESIDENTIAL proxies. Local runs need Proxy external access enabled.

## `proxyCountryCode` (type: `string`):

ISO country code for residential proxy (e.g. US).

## `navigationTimeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

Max seconds to wait for each page navigation before failing that URL.
