## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Tabelog Japan Restaurant Listings Scraper

Build a dataset of Japanese restaurants for market research, travel apps, lead lists or food-trend analysis. Give it a keyword and an area (or Tabelog list URLs) and get back names, ratings, review counts, cuisine, nearest station, budget, address and opening hours from Tabelog's public pages. No login, no browser.

### Example output

Illustrative record (format only; values vary by restaurant):

```json
{
  "name": "Example Ramen Shop",
  "url": "https://tabelog.com/tokyo/A1304/A130401/13000000/",
  "restaurant_id": "13000000",
  "rating": 3.58,
  "review_count": 1240,
  "cuisine": ["ラーメン", "つけ麺"],
  "nearest_station": "新宿駅 徒歩3分",
  "budget": "夜 ¥1,000~¥1,999 昼 ¥1,000~¥1,999",
  "address": "東京都新宿区西新宿1-1-1",
  "postal_code": "160-0023",
  "opening_hours": "11:00~22:00"
}
```

### Input

- **Keyword** and **Area**: run a Tabelog search (e.g. ラーメン + 東京).
- **Tabelog URLs**: public list/search/area pages (pagination is followed) or single restaurant pages.
- **Max results**: total cap across all sources.
- **Fetch detail pages**: adds full address and opening hours (one extra request per restaurant). Turn off for faster, list-only data.
- **Use Apify residential proxy**: the Actor switches to a Japanese residential proxy automatically if Tabelog blocks plain requests.

### Output fields

name, url, restaurant_id, rating, review_count, cuisine, nearest_station, budget, address, postal_code, opening_hours. Fields not shown on a page are null or empty.

### Pricing

$0.002 per result ($2 per 1,000 restaurants), charged per dataset item. Platform usage is separate where applicable.

### Limits

- Only publicly visible, logged-out data is read. No personal contact data is collected.
- Tabelog list pages cap at about 60 pages per search, so narrow by area or cuisine for large collections.
- Requests are rate limited (about one every 1.5 seconds) and back off on 429 responses; CAPTCHAs are never solved.
- Page layouts can change; if fields come back empty, please report it.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQuery` (type: `string`):

Cuisine or restaurant keyword, Japanese or English (e.g. ラーメン, sushi).

## `location` (type: `string`):

Area, city or station name as used on Tabelog (e.g. 東京, 大阪, 新宿).

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Public Tabelog list/search/area pages (e.g. https://tabelog.com/tokyo/A1304/A130401/rstLst/) or single restaurant pages.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of restaurants to return in total (you are charged per result).

## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Open each restaurant page to get the full address and opening hours. Slower (one extra request per result).

## `useProxy` (type: `boolean`):

Start with a proxy. Otherwise the Actor only switches to the proxy automatically if Tabelog blocks plain requests.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "searchQuery": "ラーメン",
  "location": "東京",
  "maxResults": 50,
  "includeDetails": true,
  "useProxy": false
}
```
