## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

Scrape concerts and live music events from **songkick.com** — artist, venue, full address, coordinates, date, genre, and ticket links for every event. Works with artist pages (lists all upcoming concerts) or direct concert URLs. One row per event, clean JSON out.

***

### Why use this scraper

- **Full event detail.** Artist name, genre and bio; venue name, street address, city, region, postal code, country and lat/lng coordinates; start/end dates; ticket URL, price and availability.
- **Artist pages work as listings.** Paste an artist URL and get every upcoming concert for that artist — artist pages server-render all their shows.
- **No login, no API key.** Songkick's public API requires an apikey; this scraper reads the same data the website renders, no credentials needed.
- **Structured output.** Clean schema.org `MusicEvent` JSON-LD parsed into flat rows — ready for spreadsheets, databases, or LLM pipelines.

***

### Overview

Songkick is a concert-discovery platform with millions of live music events worldwide. This actor scrapes artist pages and concert pages, returning structured data: who's playing, where, when, what genre, and where to buy tickets.

Each output row is a single concert with the artist (name, genre, bio, profile URL), the venue (name, full postal address, geo coordinates), the timing (start/end dates), and ticket offers (URL, price, availability).

***

### Supported inputs

- **Artist pages** (listing — returns all upcoming concerts for the artist):
  - `https://www.songkick.com/artists/197928-coldplay`
  - `https://www.songkick.com/artists/139648-rihanna`
- **Concert URLs** (single event):
  - `https://www.songkick.com/concerts/43297018-coldplay-at-second-presbyterian-church-of-fort-lauderdale`

> **Note:** Metro-area pages (`/metro-areas/...`) are not supported — those load events client-side via JavaScript. Use artist pages or direct concert URLs instead.

***

### Use cases

- **Tour tracking** — scrape an artist's page to get every upcoming show.
- **Concert database** — build a directory of live music events by artist.
- **Venue research** — collect venue names, addresses, and coordinates.
- **Ticket monitoring** — track ticket availability and prices for upcoming concerts.
- **Music-industry leads** — event organizers, promoters, and venues for outreach.

### How it works

<p align="center"><img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/muhamed-didovic/muhamed-didovic.github.io/main/assets/how-it-works-songkick-events.png" width="900" alt="How it works"></p>

1. You provide an artist page URL (or direct concert URLs).
2. The actor fetches the artist page with impit (real Chrome TLS fingerprint).
3. It extracts concert links from the page's server-rendered HTML.
4. It fetches each concert detail page in parallel and parses the schema.org `MusicEvent` JSON-LD.
5. Each concert becomes one clean row in the dataset.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| `startUrls` | array | Coldplay artist page | Songkick URLs to scrape. Artist pages and concert URLs are auto-classified. |
| `maxItems` | integer | 1000 | Maximum events to scrape. |
| `maxConcurrency` | integer | 10 | How many concert pages to fetch in parallel. |
| `proxy` | object | Apify proxy | Proxy configuration. |

```json
{
  "startUrls": [{ "url": "https://www.songkick.com/artists/197928-coldplay" }],
  "maxItems": 100
}
```

```json
{
  "type": "event",
  "eventId": 43297018,
### FAQ
**Do I need a Songkick API key?**
No. The scraper reads the public website data. Songkick's REST API requires an apikey, but the website renders the same data without it.
**Why can't I use metro-area pages?**
Metro-area pages load their event lists client-side via JavaScript, so the events aren't in the initial HTML. Artist pages server-render all upcoming concerts, so use those instead.
**How many concerts does an artist page return?**
All upcoming concerts for that artist — typically 3 to 50 depending on how active their tour schedule is.
**Can I scrape multiple artists?**
Yes — pass multiple artist page URLs in `startUrls`.
