## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Wellfound Startup Jobs Scraper: salary and equity ranges, company stage and new-job alerts

Get startup jobs from **Wellfound** (formerly AngelList Talent) as clean structured data. Every job comes with its **full description included, at no extra cost**, plus:

- **Salary range as numbers** (`salaryMin`, `salaryMax`, `salaryCurrency`). In our tests about 95% of jobs had one.
- **Equity range** in % (`equityMin`, `equityMax`) when offered.
- **Remote policy**, office locations and accepted remote locations.
- **The hiring startup:** name, one-line pitch, **company size**, **stage** (Early / Growth / Scale) and badges such as *Top Investors*, *Growing Fast*, *Actively Hiring*.
- The **ATS** the company uses (Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever, ...).

Turn on **monitoring mode** and schedule it daily: each run returns **only jobs you haven't received before**.

### What you can use it for

- **Sales prospecting.** Startups that are hiring are startups with fresh budget. Filter by stage and size, then reach out.
- **Tech recruiting.** Track which funded startups are hiring for your candidates' roles, with pay and equity up front.
- **Job seekers and communities.** Build curated startup job boards or newsletters (e.g. remote, $150k+).
- **Compensation research.** Salary and equity bands by role, stage and city.

### How to use it

1. Enter one or more **roles**, e.g. `software-engineer`, `product-manager`, `data-scientist`, `designer`, `marketing`, `sales`.
2. Optionally set a **location** (`new-york`, `san-francisco`, `london`, `berlin`, ...) or turn on **Remote only**.
3. Optional filters: **job types**, **minimum salary**, **only jobs matching the role**.
4. Set **Maximum jobs** and click **Start**.

You can also paste any Wellfound role or location page into **listing URLs**.

#### Daily new-job feed

Turn on **Only new jobs (monitoring mode)**, pick a **monitoring key**, add a **schedule** (e.g. daily 07:00) and connect Slack, email, a webhook or Google Sheets.

### Pricing

You pay per job saved. Full descriptions and company data are included in that price. There's no subscription. Set a **maximum cost per run** in the run options and the Actor stops cleanly when it's reached.

### Tips

- Wellfound's role pages also show related roles (a `data-scientist` page includes ML engineers and analysts). Turn on **Only jobs matching the role** for exact matches.
- Pages overlap a little, but duplicates are removed automatically and never charged twice.
- Filters like minimum salary are applied before saving, so filtered-out jobs aren't charged.

### FAQ

**Is this legal?** The Actor only collects publicly visible job listings and company profiles, with no candidate data. You're responsible for using the data in line with applicable law and Wellfound's terms.

**Something broke?** Open an issue on the Issues tab. The Actor is checked automatically every day.

# Actor input Schema

## `roles` (type: `array`):

Wellfound role names as they appear in its URLs, e.g. "software-engineer", "product-manager", "data-scientist", "designer", "marketing", "sales", "devops". Spaces are fine too ("product manager").

## `location` (type: `string`):

City as in Wellfound URLs, e.g. "new-york", "san-francisco", "london", "berlin". Leave empty for all locations. Ignored when Remote only is on.

## `remoteOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Keep only remote jobs. The location setting is ignored when this is on.

## `onlyMatchingRole` (type: `boolean`):

Wellfound's role pages also show related roles. Turn this on to keep only jobs whose role or title contains every word of the role you searched.

## `jobTypes` (type: `array`):

Leave empty for all.

## `minSalary` (type: `integer`):

Keep only jobs whose salary range reaches at least this amount (in the job's currency, per year). 0 = no filter.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Paste any Wellfound role or location page, e.g. https://wellfound.com/role/l/software-engineer/london.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many jobs in total (across all searches).

## `maxPagesPerSearch` (type: `integer`):

Safety cap on listing pages per role/location (about 20-45 jobs per page).

## `onlyNewJobs` (type: `boolean`):

Skip jobs returned by earlier runs with the same monitoring key. Schedule it daily for a fresh-jobs feed - you're never charged twice for the same job.

## `monitoringKey` (type: `string`):

Name for the list of already-seen jobs. Use one key per independent feed.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy settings. The default Apify Proxy works well.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "roles": [
    "software-engineer"
  ],
  "remoteOnly": false,
  "onlyMatchingRole": false,
  "minSalary": 0,
  "maxPagesPerSearch": 30,
  "onlyNewJobs": false,
  "monitoringKey": "default",
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `overview` (type: `string`):

Jobs in the "Jobs" table view.

## `companies` (type: `string`):

Jobs in the "Companies" table view.

## `allFields` (type: `string`):

Every field of every job, as returned by the dataset API.
