## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Tech Stack Detector: CMS, Shop, Analytics, Hosting & Email

Find out **which technologies any website uses**, for one site or ten thousand. Enter domains or URLs and get **one clean, CSV-ready row per website** with the CMS, shop system, analytics, ad pixels, cookie consent tool, CDN, hosting and **email provider**, including versions where the site reveals them.

- **3,500+ technologies** recognised from HTML, script sources, meta tags, HTTP headers, cookies, page elements and **public DNS records** (MX/TXT/NS/SOA). DNS reveals what a page never shows, e.g. *Google Workspace* or *Microsoft 365* for email.
- **Flat columns per category** (`cms`, `ecommerce`, `analytics`, `consent`, `cdn`, `hosting`, `emailProviders` …) that are ready for filtering in Excel or your CRM, plus a detailed list with version, confidence and categories.
- **Fast and cheap:** no browser needed. Most sites take about a second.
- **Fair billing:** sites that cannot be loaded or block the request are **free**. You can set a maximum cost per run; the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached.

### Who uses it

| User | Typical use |
| --- | --- |
| Agencies (web, SEO, marketing) | Find prospects on outdated CMS versions, audit client sites, prepare pitches |
| Sales and lead generation | Enrich lead lists: "uses Shopify + Klaviyo", "WordPress without consent tool" |
| Market research | Measure CMS/shop market share in a niche or country |

### Output (one row per website)

| Field | Example |
| --- | --- |
| `url`, `finalUrl`, `domain` | `baeckerei-muster.de`, `https://www.baeckerei-muster.de/`, `baeckerei-muster.de` |
| `status`, `httpStatus` | `ok`, `200` |
| `cms`, `pageBuilders` | `WordPress 6.4.2`, `Elementor 3.18.3` |
| `ecommerce`, `payment` | `WooCommerce`, `PayPal, Klarna` |
| `analytics`, `tagManagers`, `advertising` | `Google Analytics`, `Google Tag Manager`, `Facebook Pixel` |
| `marketingAutomation`, `crm`, `liveChat` | `Klaviyo`, `HubSpot`, `Tidio` |
| `consent` | `Cookiebot` |
| `cdn`, `hosting`, `webServer` | `Cloudflare`, `WP Engine`, `Nginx` |
| `jsFrameworks`, `uiFrameworks`, `webFrameworks`, `programmingLanguages`, `databases`, `security`, `abTesting` | `React`, `Bootstrap`, `Laravel`, `PHP`, `MySQL`, `reCAPTCHA`, `Google Optimize` |
| `emailProviders` | `Google Workspace` |
| `technologies`, `technologyCount` | all technologies as a list, e.g. `["WordPress 6.4.2", "PHP", "Cloudflare"]` |
| `technologiesDetailed` | name, version, confidence, categories, website, `implied` (e.g. WordPress implies PHP) |
| `title`, `language` | page title and HTML language |
| `errors` | e.g. `HTTP 403: the site blocked the request` |

The **Overview** table shows the key columns; export everything as CSV, Excel or JSON, or use the API.

### Pricing

Pay per event, no subscription:

| Event | Price |
| --- | --- |
| `site-analyzed` | **$2.50 per 1,000 websites** |
| Site not reachable, blocked (HTTP 4xx/5xx) or not HTML, invalid input | free |

Set a maximum cost per run in Apify; the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached.

### Input example

```json
{
  "urls": ["wordpress.org", "https://www.shopify.com", "apify.com"],
  "checkDns": true,
  "minConfidence": 50
}
```

### How it works and limits

The Actor loads each page like a browser would request it, but **without running JavaScript**. This keeps it fast and inexpensive. Technologies that only appear after JavaScript runs, or only on sub-pages, can be missed; tools that are referenced in the HTML (script tags, meta tags, page elements, headers, cookies) are found reliably. Sites behind strict bot protection may answer with HTTP 403; such rows are marked and not charged, and header/DNS based findings (e.g. Cloudflare, email provider) are still included.

Fingerprints are based on the open-source Wappalyzer data (MIT-licensed release 6.10.54). Technologies launched after early 2023 may not be recognised yet.

### FAQ

**Is this legal?** The Actor only requests the public page you enter (one request per site, like a visitor) and reads public DNS records. It does not log in, does not bypass protections and stores no personal data.

**Why is a technology I know missing?** Most likely it is loaded by JavaScript after the page starts, or only used on other pages. Enter that page's URL directly to analyze it.

**Something wrong or missing?** Open an issue on the Actor page. We usually answer within one business day and fix confirmed bugs quickly.

B. „WordPress-Seiten ohne Consent-Tool“).

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Domains or URLs, one per line (e.g. 'example.com' or 'https://shop.example.com'). The page you enter is analyzed, usually the homepage. Duplicates are removed; up to 10,000 per run.

## `checkDns` (type: `boolean`):

Also reads public DNS records (MX, TXT, NS, SOA) to detect the email provider (e.g. Google Workspace, Microsoft 365) and DNS/hosting services. Adds about one second per site.

## `minConfidence` (type: `integer`):

Only report technologies detected with at least this confidence. 50 removes weak single hints; use 100 for only certain detections.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many websites are loaded at the same time.

## `selfTest` (type: `boolean`):

Analyzes one fixed website to check that everything works. Ignores the website list.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "urls": [
    "wordpress.org",
    "shopify.com",
    "apify.com"
  ],
  "maxConcurrency": 10,
  "selfTest": false
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `overview` (type: `string`):

One row per website: CMS, shop, analytics, consent, CDN, hosting, email provider.

## `results` (type: `string`):

Complete rows including every technology with version, confidence and categories.
