## Changelog — OpenTelemetry Demo Telemetry Generator

### 0.1.0 — unreleased

- Initial version.
- Deterministic simulator (`seed`) of correlated OpenTelemetry traces, metrics and logs following current semantic
conventions: HTTP/gRPC client-server pairs, database, cache and messaging spans (consumer traces linked to
producers), exceptions with stack traces, trace-correlated logs, cumulative (or delta) metrics with consistent start
times, Kubernetes/cloud/runtime resources and `app.synthetic = true` on every resource.
- Four industries (e-commerce, fintech, B2B SaaS, logistics) with 7–10 services in Java, Go, Python, Node.js and .NET.
- Nine scenarios: healthy baseline, checkout latency incident, bad deployment and rollback, database slow queries,
memory leak with OOMKilled restarts, cache stampede, third-party outage with circuit breaker, traffic surge with
autoscaling and consumer lag, credential-stuffing burst. Incident timing and severity are configurable.
- OTLP/HTTP export (protobuf or JSON with hex IDs, gzip) with batching, retries with backoff and `Retry-After`,
413 splitting and `partial_success` parsing, through the SSRF-guarded shared HTTP client.
- Eleven backend presets: generic OTLP, OpenTelemetry Collector, Honeycomb, Grafana Cloud (Basic auth helper),
New Relic, Elastic, Dynatrace (protobuf + delta), SigNoz, Jaeger (traces only), Uptrace, Axiom.
- Live mode (real-time pacing, ~15 s flushes) and backfill mode (last N minutes, as fast as allowed).
- Demo guide (`DEMO_GUIDE.md`) with the UTC timeline, walkthrough, talk track and vendor queries.
- Free dry runs with OTLP/JSON samples and volume estimates.
- 22 delivery-health rules (`OTD-CFG-*` configuration checks before sending, `OTD-DLV-*` runtime delivery checks).
  See [RULES.md](RULES.md).
- Pay-per-event: `telemetry-minute` per delivered simulated minute; dry runs and undelivered minutes are free.
