## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### Google Trends Scraper

Get Google Trends data for any keyword, fast and cheap. One clean row per keyword with:

- **Interest over time**: Google's 0-100 score for every day, week or month in the range, plus average and peak date.
- **Interest by region**: countries worldwide, or states and cities when you pick a country.
- **Related queries**: top and rising, including "Breakout" terms (over 5000% growth).

Also has a **Trending Now** mode: today's trending searches for any country, with approximate search volume, start time and news headlines and links.

No login, no API key, and no proxy needed for normal runs.

### Use cases

- SEO and content: find rising keywords before competitors do
- Product research: check whether demand for a product is growing or dying
- Market research: compare interest across countries and states
- News and social: see what people are searching for right now, every day
- AI agents and dashboards: feed fresh trend data into your models

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Mode | Keyword reports, or Trending Now |
| Search terms | One report per term |
| Country or region code | US, AU, GB, US-CA... Empty means worldwide |
| Time range | Past hour up to 2004 to now |
| Category ID, Search type | Narrow to a category, or to Images, News, Shopping or YouTube search |
| Trending Now countries | Country codes for Trending Now mode |

### Output (keyword report)

```json
  "type": "keyword",
  "keyword": "ai agents",
  "geo": "US",
  "timeRange": "today 3-m",
  "relatedQueries": { "top": [{ "query": "ai agent", "value": 100 }], "rising": [{ "query": "agent builder", "value": "Breakout" }] },
  "url": "https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=ai%20agents&date=today%203-m&geo=US"
```

### Pricing

Pay per result. One keyword report (all three sections) counts as one result. One trending search counts as one result. Keywords that fail are not charged. No start fee.

### Notes

Values are relative (0-100), exactly as Google shows them. Very large runs can hit Google rate limits; the scraper retries with backoff, and you can turn on Apify Proxy for big jobs.
