## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Shopify App Store Scraper - Apps, Reviews & Developer Contacts

Scrape the [Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com) by keyword, category, app URL, or the whole store. Get every app's rating, review count, pricing, categories and **developer contacts** (website, support email, phone, address), plus **full reviews**. No login, no API key, pay only for results.

### What you can do with it

- **Lead generation**: build lists of Shopify app developers with their website and support email.
- **Competitor research**: track ratings, review counts and pricing of apps in your category.
- **Review mining**: pull thousands of merchant reviews to find pain points and feature gaps.
- **Market sizing**: scrape the full store (13k+ apps) and see which categories are crowded.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Search keywords | e.g. `upsell`, `product reviews`, `email marketing` |
| Category URLs | e.g. `https://apps.shopify.com/categories/marketing-and-conversion` |
| App URLs or handles | e.g. `https://apps.shopify.com/judgeme` or `judgeme` |
| Scrape the whole store | Walks the store sitemap. Cap it with **Max apps**. |
| Max apps | Total cap. Default 50. `0` = no limit. |
| Include reviews | Adds one dataset item per review. |
| Max reviews per app | Default 100. `0` = all. |
| Include developer details | Visits the developer page for website and address. |

### Output

App item:

```json
{
  "type": "app",
  "handle": "example-app",
  "url": "https://apps.shopify.com/example-app",
  "name": "Example App",
  "rating": 4.8,
  "reviewCount": 1234,
  "pricingSummary": "Free plan available",
  "hasFreePlan": true,
  "pricingPlans": [{ "title": "Pro", "price": "$15/month", "features": ["..."] }],
  "categories": ["Product reviews"],
  "builtForShopify": true,
  "launched": "March 1, 2020",
  "developerName": "Example Inc",
  "developerUrl": "https://apps.shopify.com/partners/example-inc",
  "developerWebsite": "https://example.com",
  "developerEmail": "support@example.com",
  "developerPhone": null,
  "developerAddress": "...",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-18T00:00:00.000Z"
}
```

Review item:

```json
{
  "type": "review",
  "appHandle": "example-app",
  "rating": 5,
  "date": "October 1, 2026",
  "reviewer": "Some Store",
  "reviewerCountry": "Australia",
  "usageDuration": "About 1 year using the app",
  "text": "Great app ...",
  "developerReply": null
}
```

The example values above are placeholders showing the shape of the data.

Filter by `type` to split apps and reviews, or use the **Apps** view in the dataset tab.

### Pricing

Pay per event, no monthly fee:

- **$2.00 per 1,000 apps**
- **$0.50 per 1,000 reviews**

Set a spending limit on the run and the scraper stops cleanly when it is reached.

### Tips

- Datacenter proxy (the default) is enough.
- For the whole store, start with `maxApps: 100` to see the output, then raise it.
- Run on a schedule to track rating and review changes over time.

### Is it legal?

It only collects data that the Shopify App Store shows publicly to any visitor, with no login. Personal data may still appear in reviews (store names). Use it in line with GDPR and your local laws.

### Issues

Something broken or a field missing? Open an issue on the Issues tab. Fixes usually ship within days.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):

Keywords to search on the Shopify App Store, e.g. "reviews", "upsell", "email marketing".

## `categoryUrls` (type: `array`):

Shopify App Store category pages, e.g. https://apps.shopify.com/categories/marketing-and-conversion

## `appUrls` (type: `array`):

Specific apps, e.g. https://apps.shopify.com/judgeme or just judgeme

## `allApps` (type: `boolean`):

Ignore the inputs above and scrape every app listed in the store sitemap. Use Max apps to cap cost.

## `maxApps` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many apps in total. 0 = no limit.

## `includeReviews` (type: `boolean`):

Also scrape reviews of each app. Each review is a separate dataset item.

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

0 = all reviews.

## `reviewsSort` (type: `string`):

Reviews sort

## `includeDeveloperDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Visit the developer (partner) page to add their website, address and full app count.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Datacenter proxy is enough for most runs.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "searchQueries": [
    "product reviews"
  ],
  "allApps": false,
  "maxApps": 50,
  "includeReviews": false,
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 100,
  "reviewsSort": "newest",
  "includeDeveloperDetails": true,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

All apps and reviews scraped in this run.
