## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does France Company Register Scraper (SIRENE) do?

This actor extracts **French companies** from the **official French government company search API** (API Recherche d'entreprises, run by DINUM, behind annuaire-entreprises.data.gouv.fr). The API combines **INSEE SIRENE** and **INPI RNE** data.

Filter by **NAF/APE activity code, département, region, headcount band, company category (PME/ETI/GE), creation date and status**. Each row is one company (SIREN) with its head office address and GPS coordinates, establishment counts, latest published **revenue and net income**, collective agreements, RGE/BIO/ESS and other flags, and a computed **intra-EU VAT number**.

Export as JSON, CSV or Excel, or use the Apify API, schedules and integrations.

### Features

- **Nationwide searches past the 10,000-result cap:** the API returns at most 10,000 results per query. When a search hits that cap, the actor splits it by département and, if one département still has 10,000+ matches, by postcode (official geo.api.gouv.fr list). Duplicates are removed.
- **Head-office filter:** the API matches a company if *any* establishment is in the area. With "Head office must be in the selected area" on (the default), only companies whose siège is there are kept.
- **New-company monitor:** remembers SIRENs between runs, so a scheduled run returns only companies it has not returned before. The first run is a free baseline.
- **Privacy defaults:** sole traders (legal form 1000) and records not open for public diffusion are skipped. Directors who are natural persons are never output; only corporate directors, and only if you ask for them.

### How to use it

1. Add one or more **NAF codes** (for example `62.01Z`) and/or **départements** (for example `75`, `69`, `2A`).
2. Optionally narrow by **region**, **headcount band**, **company category** or **created on/after**.
3. Run it. To track new companies, turn on **monitor mode** and schedule the actor.

At least one search text or filter is required.

### How much does it cost to export French company data?

You pay per company delivered: **$4.00 per 1,000 companies**, no start fee. Skipped records (sole traders, non-diffusible, outside the head-office area, duplicates across départements) are not charged. Set a maximum cost per run in Apify; the actor stops when it is reached. In monitor mode, the first run is a free baseline (no output, no charge); later runs return only new companies. The $5 monthly credit on the Apify free plan covers about 1,250 companies.

### Limits

- The source API is a search API and **does not expose the full SIRENE database**; non-diffusible companies are not available (https://recherche-entreprises.api.gouv.fr/docs/).
- **10,000-result cap per query:** searches are split by département and then by postcode. Only a single postcode with 10,000+ matches is still truncated (a warning is logged); add NAF or headcount filters in that case.
- Financials are only present where the company published accounts; only the latest year is output. A missing value is output as `null`, never as `0`; a `0` is the value as published in the register.
- `vatNumber` is computed from the SIREN and not validated with VIES.
- The API is rate-limited (7 requests/second per IP); the actor paces requests and retries on rate-limit errors, so large exports take longer.
- Monitor mode remembers up to the last 300,000 SIRENs per memory name.

### Data source, licence and privacy

Data: API Recherche d'entreprises (DINUM), from INSEE SIRENE and INPI RNE, published as open data under Licence Ouverte v2.0 (Etalab). See the [Licence Ouverte / Open Licence 2.0](https://www.etalab.gouv.fr/licence-ouverte-open-licence/). Attribution: "Source: Annuaire des Entreprises – data.gouv.fr".

Sole traders and non-diffusible records are skipped by default. If you turn off "Exclude sole traders", rows can contain a natural person's name, and you are responsible for GDPR compliance (lawful basis, information duties, opt-outs) when you use the data, for example for prospecting.

### FAQ

#### Is this the official SIRENE data?

It comes from the official government API that combines INSEE SIRENE and INPI RNE data, the same source as annuaire-entreprises.data.gouv.fr.

#### How do I get more than 10,000 companies?

Leave départements empty for a nationwide search; the actor splits it by département automatically. If one département exceeds 10,000, it is split by postcode automatically.

#### Why does a company appear that has no establishment in my area?

It shouldn't with "Head office must be in the selected area" on. With it off, companies with any establishment in the area are included.

#### How do I get a list of newly created companies?

Use `createdAfter` with monitor mode and schedule the actor.

#### Are directors included?

Only directors that are companies (holdings), and only with "Include corporate directors". Natural-person directors are never output.

#### Do I need an INSEE API key?

No.
