## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does LEI Lookup & Company Search (GLEIF) do?

It looks up and searches the **official Global LEI Index** published by **GLEIF** (Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation): more than 2.9 million legal entities worldwide, updated daily. Search by **company name, country, LEI or national registration number** (KvK, SIREN, Companies House number…) and get the **legal name, legal and HQ address, legal form, register ID, entity status, LEI status and renewal date**, and optionally the reported **direct and ultimate parent company**.

Use it for **KYB / KYC checks, CRM enrichment, supplier onboarding, ownership mapping** and to **monitor newly registered legal entities** in a country (new funds, holdings and companies that just obtained an LEI).

### How to use it

1. Add **company names** and/or **countries** (ISO codes like `NL`, `DE`), or paste **LEIs** or **registration numbers** to look up.
2. Optionally set **LEI first registered after**, status, category and **include parents**.
3. For new-entity alerts: set a country, turn on **monitor mode** and schedule daily.

### Input example

```json
{ "names": ["Unilever"], "countries": ["NL"], "includeParents": true, "maxItems": 50 }
```

### Output example

```json
{
  "lei": "98450075B01A7GH35464", "legalName": "Sonnleitner-van Dijk B.V.", "status": "ACTIVE", "category": "GENERAL",
  "legalFormCode": "54M6", "jurisdiction": "NL", "registrationAuthorityId": "RA000463", "registrationNumber": "20020881",
  "legalAddress": { "lines": ["de Nieuwe Zoek 29"], "city": "Schijf", "postalCode": "4721 CA", "country": "NL" },
  "entityCreationDate": "2001-06-05", "leiRegistrationStatus": "ISSUED", "leiInitialRegistrationDate": "2026-10-17T12:40:51Z",
  "ultimateParent": null, "url": "https://search.gleif.org/#/record/98450075B01A7GH35464"
}
```

### Data fields

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| lei, legalName, otherNames | LEI code and names |
| status, category, legalFormCode, jurisdiction | Entity status, GLEIF category, ISO 20275 legal form code |
| registrationAuthorityId, registrationNumber | Business register (GLEIF RA code) and the entity's number there |
| legalAddress, headquartersAddress, country | Addresses |
| entityCreationDate | Date the entity was founded (if reported) |
| leiRegistrationStatus, leiInitialRegistrationDate, leiLastUpdateDate, leiNextRenewalDate, corroborationLevel, managingLou | LEI registration data (lapsed LEIs show status LAPSED) |
| bic | Mapped BIC codes |
| directParent, ultimateParent | With "Include parents": lei, legalName, country |
| url | GLEIF search page |

### How much does it cost?

**$2.00 per 1,000 records**, no start fee. In monitor mode the first run is a free **baseline**; later runs charge only new LEIs. Set a maximum cost per run; the actor stops at the limit and only remembers what it delivered. The $5 monthly credit on the Apify free plan covers about 2,500 records.

### Limits and privacy

- Parent data is only as complete as what entities report to GLEIF (many report an exception instead).
- Sole proprietors (natural persons) are skipped by default.

### Data source and licence

GLEIF LEI data is free open data under **CC0 1.0** ([GLEIF terms of use](https://www.gleif.org/en/meta/lei-data-terms-of-use/)). Not affiliated with or endorsed by GLEIF.
