## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Florida New Business Filings Feed (Sunbiz daily files)

A clean daily feed of **new Florida corporations, LLCs, limited partnerships and nonprofits**, read straight from the Florida Division of Corporations' official daily data files. About **850 new entities per work day**, usually within a day of being entered into the state database.

No scraping and no anti-bot breakage: the Actor downloads the state's own `yyyymmddc.txt` daily corporate filings file and turns the fixed-width records into JSON.

- **Entity type**: LLC, corporation, limited partnership, nonprofit, trust; Florida-formed or foreign (formed in another state/country and registered to do business in Florida).
- **Where**: principal city, state, ZIP and **county** (derived from the ZIP code; approximate where a ZIP crosses county lines).
- **Who (entity level only)**: legal entity name, state of formation, **corporate registered agent** (name when it is a company, e.g. a registered-agent service), corporate officers/members that are companies. Individuals are never output.
- **Filters**: date range or days back, entity types, Florida vs foreign, counties, cities, ZIP prefixes, name keywords, active/inactive, new formations only.

### Who uses it

- B2B sales and lead gen for new businesses: banking, insurance, payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, software, signage, commercial real estate, telecom.
- Registered-agent, formation and compliance services (competitor monitoring: which agent services new entities pick).
- Market intelligence and local news: formation counts by county, entity type and industry keyword.

### Quick start

Run with `{}` to get the 30 newest new-formation entities from the latest daily file (about 10 seconds).

```json
{ "daysBack": 3, "counties": ["Miami-Dade", "Broward", "Palm Beach"], "entityTypes": ["llc"], "maxItems": 500 }
```

New LLCs in South Florida over the last three days (covers a weekend; files exist only for work days).

```json
{ "origin": "foreign", "daysBack": 7, "maxItems": 200 }
```

Out-of-state companies newly registered to do business in Florida.

```json
{ "daysBack": 1, "nameContains": ["roofing", "construction", "contracting"], "maxItems": 1000 }
```

New contractor-style entities from the latest file. Schedule it daily with `daysBack: 1`.

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `daysBack` | Calendar days of daily files to read, ending at the newest file (default 1 = latest file; max 31) |
| `dateFrom` / `dateTo` | Explicit file-date range (YYYY-MM-DD); overrides `daysBack` |
| `entityTypes` | `corporation`, `llc`, `lp`, `nonprofit`, `trust`, `agent`, or codes `DOMP`, `DOMNP`, `FORP`, `FORNP`, `DOMLP`, `FORLP`, `FLAL`, `FORL`, `NPREG`, `TRUST`, `AGENT`. Empty = corporation, LLC, LP, nonprofit |
| `origin` | `any` (default), `florida`, `foreign` |
| `counties`, `cities`, `zipPrefixes` | Principal-address filters |
| `floridaAddressOnly` | Drop entities whose principal address is outside Florida |
| `nameContains`, `excludeNameContains` | Keyword filters on the entity name |
| `status` | `any` (default), `active`, `inactive` |
| `newFormationsOnly` + `newFormationWindowDays` | Default on, 30 days: keeps entities whose formation date is within 30 days of the file date. Turn off to get every record in the files |
| `includeStreetAddress` | Adds the principal street address (and a company registered agent's address). Off by default because small entities often list a home address |
| `maxItems` | Max records (default 30; also caps your spend) |

### Output example

See `sample-output.json`. Fields: `documentNumber`, `entityName`, `entityType`, `entityTypeLabel`, `entityCategory`, `foreignEntity`, `status`, `formationDate`, `sourceFileDate`, `stateOfFormation`, `principalCity`, `principalState`, `principalZip`, `county`, `registeredAgentType` (`company` / `person`), `registeredAgentCompany`, `registeredAgentCity`, `officerCount`, `individualOfficersWithheld`, `corporateOfficers`, `hasFederalEin` (a flag only), `isNewFormation`.

### Data source and privacy

- Source: Florida Department of State, Division of Corporations, **Data Downloads - Daily Data**: https://dos.fl.gov/sunbiz/other-services/data-downloads/daily-data/ (file layout: https://dos.sunbiz.org/data-definitions/cor.html). The Division offers these downloads free "for informational purposes", "as is".
- Access: the Division publishes a public-access username and password for its data server (host `sftp.floridados.gov`, user `Public`) on that page for anyone to download the files. This Actor uses those published public credentials; they are not a private login. If the state changes them, update `src/sftp.js` (or the `SUNBIZ_SFTP_*` environment variables).
- Individuals are never output: registered agents and officers who are persons are withheld (only a count is given), and federal EINs are reduced to a yes/no flag. Street addresses are opt-in. Entity names are the public legal names of the registered entities (some LLCs are named after their founders).
- Data may lag or differ from the live sunbiz.org record (the state says so on its definitions page). The Actor is not affiliated with the State of Florida.
- Polite use: one connection per run, a few MB per daily file.

### Pricing

Pay per event: a small start fee plus a fee per filing delivered. Your spend is capped by `maxItems` and your run's maximum cost limit.

# Actor input Schema

## `daysBack` (type: `integer`):

How many calendar days of daily Sunbiz files to read, ending at the newest file (or dateTo). 1 = the latest daily file only. Files exist only for work days, so 3 covers a weekend.

## `dateFrom` (type: `string`):

YYYY-MM-DD. Overrides daysBack. This is the date the filing was entered into the Sunbiz database (file date).

## `dateTo` (type: `string`):

YYYY-MM-DD. Defaults to the newest available file.

## `entityTypes` (type: `array`):

Any of: corporation, llc, lp, nonprofit, trust, agent, or Sunbiz codes (DOMP, DOMNP, FORP, FORNP, DOMLP, FORLP, FLAL, FORL, NPREG, TRUST, AGENT). Empty = corporation, llc, lp and nonprofit.

## `origin` (type: `string`):

Foreign = entity formed in another state/country that registered in Florida.

## `counties` (type: `array`):

Florida county names, e.g. Miami-Dade, Broward, Orange. County is derived from the principal-address ZIP code (the state file has no county column), so it is approximate for ZIP codes that cross county lines.

## `cities` (type: `array`):

Principal-address city, exact match, e.g. Miami, Orlando.

## `zipPrefixes` (type: `array`):

Principal-address ZIP prefixes, e.g. 331 or 33101.

## `floridaAddressOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Drop entities whose principal address is outside Florida.

## `nameContains` (type: `array`):

Keep entities whose name contains any of these words (e.g. roofing, holdings, realty).

## `excludeNameContains` (type: `array`):

Drop entities whose name contains any of these words.

## `status` (type: `string`):

Filter by entity status. Newly formed entities are normally active.

## `newFormationsOnly` (type: `boolean`):

On: only entities whose formation/registration date is within newFormationWindowDays of the file date. Off: every record in the daily files, including filings that changed an older entity.

## `newFormationWindowDays` (type: `integer`):

How recent the formation date must be, measured from the daily file date.

## `includeStreetAddress` (type: `boolean`):

Add the principal street address (and a corporate registered agent's address). Off by default because small entities often list a home address.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Hard cap on delivered filings (also caps your spend). Default is small so a first test run is quick and cheap.
