## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Shopify App Store Reviews Scraper & Monitor API | $0.20 per 1,000 reviews

Scrape and **monitor Shopify App Store reviews** for any app, such as **Klaviyo, Judge.me, Privy, ReCharge or Loox**. For each review you get the star rating, date, full text, merchant store name, country, how long they used the app, and the developer's reply. It's fast and cheap, with **no proxy and no login**.

Turn on **Only new reviews since last run** and schedule it to get an alert whenever a competitor gets a fresh 1-star review.

### What it can do

- Scrape reviews from one or many apps (a URL or a handle like `judgeme`)
- **Star filter:** `[1, 2]` returns negative reviews only, for competitor weak spots
- **Date filter:** `sinceDate: "2026-09-01"` returns only recent reviews and stops early to keep runs cheap
- **Monitor mode:** only reviews you haven't seen before, for daily or weekly schedules
- Sort by newest or most relevant
- App details: name, developer, average rating, total review count and pricing summary

### Use cases

- **Shopify app developers:** track your own reviews and respond faster, and mine competitors' complaints for features to build.
- **Competitor monitoring:** get a weekly digest of new 1–2 star reviews on rival apps.
- **Agencies and SaaS sales:** find merchants unhappy with a competitor, using the public store names they chose to display.
- **Product and market research:** validate app ideas against real merchant pain points.
- **AI and LLM workflows:** feed review text into sentiment analysis, topic clustering or summaries.

### Pricing

Pay per result: **$0.20 per 1,000 reviews** ($0.0002 each) and $0.001 per app-details record. There's no monthly rental, and filtered-out reviews aren't charged.

| Job | Reviews | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Last 500 reviews of one app | 500 | ~$0.10 |
| All 1–2 star reviews of 10 competitors | ~3,000 | ~$0.60 |
| Weekly new-review monitor, 20 apps | ~200/week | ~$0.20/month |

```
### Integrations: API, Make, Zapier, n8n, Google Sheets
- **API:** call `https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/moneyreset~shopify-app-reviews-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_TOKEN` with your input as JSON and get results back in one request.
- **No-code:** use the official Apify apps for **Make**, **Zapier** and **n8n** to send results to Google Sheets, Airtable, Slack, HubSpot or email.
- **Schedules:** use Apify Schedules to run it daily or weekly, and add a webhook to get pinged when it finishes.
- **Export:** JSON, CSV, Excel, XML or RSS from the dataset tab.
- **AI agents:** works through the Apify MCP server, so Claude, ChatGPT and other agents can call it as a tool.
### FAQ
**Do I need a proxy?** No.
**Can I get every review?** Yes. Set `maxReviewsPerApp` high. If you leave it blank, it defaults to 100 per app. The input form starts at 20 so your first test run stays cheap.
**What happens with empty input?** It runs a small example: 20 reviews of one app (about $0.005).
**Will it go over my max charge?** No. It stops exactly at the "Max charge" you set for the run and says so in the log.
**Does it collect personal data?** It outputs the merchant store name and country that Shopify shows publicly on each review, which are business details. It doesn't collect reviewer personal names, emails or photos. If you contact merchants, follow the anti-spam and privacy laws that apply to you.
**What are reviews with `text: null`?** Shopify lets merchants leave a rating with no text. Set `skipEmptyReviews: true` to drop them, and they won't be charged.
**How does monitor mode work?** It stores the review IDs it has seen in a named key-value store under your account. Use `stateKey` to keep separate monitors.
**Is it legal?** It reads publicly visible review pages with polite delays and no login. Shopify's terms restrict automated access to its services, so check that your use fits the terms and laws that apply to you (including GDPR for EU merchants). This isn't legal advice.
**Something broke?** Open an issue. We'll take a look.
# Actor input Schema
## `apps` (type: `array`):
Shopify App Store URLs or handles, e.g. https://apps.shopify.com/klaviyo-email-marketing or klaviyo-email-marketing. Leave empty to run a small example (20 reviews of one app).
## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):
Stop after this many reviews per app. If left blank: 100 (or 20 for the example run). The form starts at 20 so a first test run stays cheap. 0 = app details only.
## `ratings` (type: `array`):
e.g. \[1,2] for negative reviews only (competitor research). Empty = all.
## `sortBy` (type: `string`):
Review order.
## `includeAppDetails` (type: `boolean`):
Also output one record with app name, developer, rating and review count.
## `delayMs` (type: `integer`):
Polite delay between page requests.
## `skipEmptyReviews` (type: `boolean`):
Drop reviews that have a rating but no written text.
## `sinceDate` (type: `string`):
YYYY-MM-DD. Keep only reviews posted on or after this date. With 'newest' sort it stops paging early, so it's cheap.
## `onlyNewSinceLastRun` (type: `boolean`):
Remembers review IDs between runs and outputs only reviews not seen before. First run outputs everything. Ideal for daily/weekly scheduled monitoring.
## `stateKey` (type: `string`):
Use different names to keep separate 'seen reviews' memories for different schedules.
