## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Bandsintown Event Scraper

Collects concert and tour listings from Bandsintown and returns one flat record per event. Search by artist name for a band's tour dates, or by city for a local concert calendar.

### Input

| Field | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `search_mode` | `artist` | `artist` for a band's tour dates, `location` for a city's concert calendar. |
| `query` | `Metallica` | Artist name, or a free-form city such as `Austin, TX` / `Berlin`. |
| `event_type` | `upcoming` | `upcoming`, `past`, or `all` — artist mode only. |
| `limit` | `25` | Maximum event records to return (1–1000). |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Optional | Enable a US-based proxy for the most reliable results. |

### Output

Each result is one event:

```json
{
    "source": "bandsintown",
    "mode": "artist",
    "event_id": 108007093,
    "event_url": "https://www.bandsintown.com/e/108007093-metallica-at-sphere",
    "title": null,
    "artist_name": "Metallica",
    "artist_id": 128,
    "artist_url": "https://www.bandsintown.com/a/128-metallica",
    "starts_at": "2026-10-01T20:30:00",
    "ends_at": null,
    "timezone": "America/Los_Angeles",
    "venue_name": "Sphere",
    "location": "Las Vegas, NV",
    "city": "Las Vegas",
    "region": "NV",
    "country": "United States",
    "has_tickets": true,
    "ticket_url": "https://www.bandsintown.com/e/108007093-metallica-at-sphere",
    "raw": { ... }
}
```

Location-mode records additionally carry `artist_image`, `rsvp_count` and `search_city`.

### Notes

- Runs with empty input (defaults to Metallica's upcoming tour dates).
- Enable a US-based proxy for the most reliable results.
- Intended for research and personal use; please respect Bandsintown's terms of service.

# Actor input Schema

## `search_mode` (type: `string`):

'artist' scrapes an artist's tour dates from their Bandsintown artist page. 'location' scrapes all upcoming concerts in a city.

## `query` (type: `string`):

Artist name when search mode is 'artist' (e.g. 'Metallica', 'Radiohead'), or a free-form city when it is 'location' (e.g. 'Austin, TX', 'Berlin', 'London').

## `event_type` (type: `string`):

Which of the artist page's event buckets to return. Ignored in 'location' mode, which is always upcoming-only.

## `limit` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of event records to return. Location mode pages 36 events at a time; artist pages list roughly 26 upcoming and 50 past events.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy settings for the run. Enable a US-based proxy for the most reliable results, especially for sites that limit non-US or datacenter traffic. Optional — leave off to run directly.
