## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Companies House UK Company Registry Scraper

Searches the free public UK company register kept by Companies House and returns
one flat record per company. Filter by words in the company name, by SIC industry
code, by the town, county or postcode of the registered office, by company status
and type, and by incorporation date range — or look up specific companies by their
company number. Every record carries the registered name, company number, status,
company type, incorporation and dissolution dates, the full registered office
address split into street, town, country and postcode, the SIC industry codes with
their descriptions, the accounts and confirmation-statement dates, and any previous
company names. Directors and secretaries can be attached on request.

This is the official public register, so the data is the company's own filed
information. No account, sign-in or API key of any kind is needed.

### Input

| Field | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `company_name_includes` | `solar` | Words the registered company name must contain, e.g. `solar`, `dental`, `logistics`. Leave empty to search on the other filters alone. Ignored when `company_numbers` is filled in. |
| `sic_codes` | *(empty)* | Comma-separated UK SIC 2007 industry codes, e.g. `35110` or `62012,62020`. Empty searches every industry. |
| `location` | *(empty)* | Town, county or postcode the registered office address must contain, e.g. `Manchester`, `Cornwall`, `W1G`. Empty searches the whole UK. |
| `company_status` | `active` | `active`, `dissolved`, `liquidation`, `administration`, `open`, `closed`, or `any` for every company. |
| `company_type` | *(empty)* | Register company-type code, e.g. `ltd`, `plc`, `llp`. Empty returns all types. |
| `incorporated_from` | *(empty)* | Earliest incorporation date, `YYYY-MM-DD` or `DD/MM/YYYY`. |
| `incorporated_to` | *(empty)* | Latest incorporation date, same formats. |
| `company_numbers` | *(empty)* | Look these companies up directly instead of searching. Accepts company numbers (`00445790`, `445790`, `OE035072`) or full register profile links. When set, every search filter is ignored. |
| `include_details` | `true` | Read each company's overview page for the full SIC descriptions, accounts and confirmation-statement dates, dissolution date and previous names. |
| `include_officers` | `false` | Attach the current directors and secretaries — name, role, appointment date, nationality, month and year of birth, correspondence address. |
| `max_results` | `25` | Maximum company records to return (1–1000). |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Optional | The register is open worldwide. Enable a UK or US proxy for the most reliable results on busy networks. |

}

### Notes

- Coverage is the United Kingdom only: companies, LLPs, limited partnerships,
registered societies and overseas entities that are on the UK register.
- The register holds **no telephone numbers, email addresses, websites or employee
counts**. Industry comes from SIC codes, and the address is the registered
office, which for many small companies is an accountant's or formation agent's
address rather than a trading location.
- `street_address`, `town` and `country` are a best-effort split of the single
address line the register publishes. A county written after the town (for
example `Cheshire`) is not copied into `town`; `registered_office_address`
always holds the complete address exactly as filed.
- A search returns at most 5,000 matches — narrow by SIC code, location or
incorporation date range to go deeper into a large industry.
- Some entity types (registered societies, some overseas entities) have a much
shorter register entry, so their records carry fewer fields.
- Companies House states that it does not verify the accuracy of the information
  companies file with it.
