## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Craigslist Listing Scraper

Collects classified postings from Craigslist. Search any Craigslist region by keyword and category and get one flat record per posting with the title, price, location and neighbourhood, map coordinates, posting date, photo URLs and a direct link to the listing. Turn on posting details to also capture the full description text and the seller's listed attributes.

### Input

| Field | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `query` | *(empty)* | Search keyword, e.g. `mountain bike`, `honda civic`, `studio apartment`. Empty returns the newest postings in the chosen category. |
| `city` | `sfbay` | One or more Craigslist region subdomains, comma separated, e.g. `sfbay` or `newyork, chicago, austin`. Each region is searched in turn until the limit is reached. |
| `category` | `sss` | Category abbreviation: `sss` for-sale (all), `bik` bicycles, `cta` cars & trucks, `apa` apartments/housing, `jjj` jobs, `ggg` gigs, `ccc` community, `sso` services. |
| `max_results` | `40` | Maximum postings to return (1–2000). Each region yields up to 360 postings per search. |
| `include_details` | `false` | Also fetch each posting page for the full description and attribute table. Slower — one extra request per posting. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Optional | Enable a US-based proxy for the most reliable results. |

### Output

Each result is one Craigslist posting:

```json
{
    "post_id": "7953423780",
    "title": "Yakima FullTilt 5 Hitch Bike Rack, 5 Bikes",
    "price": 270,
### Notes
- Enable a US-based proxy for the most reliable results.
- Intended for research and personal use; please respect Craigslist's terms of service.
# Actor input Schema
## `query` (type: `string`):
What to search for on Craigslist, e.g. 'mountain bike', 'honda civic', 'studio apartment'. Leave empty to return the newest postings in the chosen category.
## `city` (type: `string`):
One or more Craigslist region subdomains, comma separated, e.g. 'sfbay', 'newyork, chicago, austin'. Each region is searched in turn until the result limit is reached.
## `category` (type: `string`):
Craigslist category abbreviation: 'sss' for-sale (all), 'bik' bicycles, 'cta' cars & trucks, 'apa' apartments/housing, 'jjj' jobs, 'ggg' gigs, 'ccc' community, 'sso' services. Defaults to all for-sale postings.
## `max_results` (type: `integer`):
Maximum number of postings to return. Each region returns up to 360 postings per search.
## `include_details` (type: `boolean`):
When enabled, each posting page is also fetched and the record is enriched with the full description text and the seller's listed attributes (condition, make, model, and similar). Slower — one extra request per posting.
## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):
Proxy settings for the run. Enable a US-based proxy for the most reliable results, especially for sites that limit non-US or datacenter traffic. Optional — leave off to run directly.
