## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## GLEIF Company Registry Scraper

Searches the Global LEI Index — the open company register published by GLEIF, the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation — and returns one flat record per legal entity. Around 3.1 million active entities worldwide, sourced from national business registers through GLEIF's accredited Local Operating Units. Search by company name or free text, narrow by country and entity status, and get the legal name, previous names, legal form, entity and registration status, the home business register plus the entity's registration number in it, jurisdiction, legal and headquarters addresses, BIC, and the matching OpenCorporates company id. No account or key of any kind is needed.

### Input

| Field | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `search_terms` | *(empty)* | Comma-separated company names or keywords, e.g. `solar, wind`. Empty pages through entities with no name filter. |
| `search_field` | `legal_name` | `legal_name` matches the registered legal name only; `fulltext` matches anywhere in the record, including previous names and addresses — more results, looser. |
| `countries` | *(empty)* | Comma-separated ISO-3166 alpha-2 codes of the entity's legal address, e.g. `DE, NL, GB`. Empty searches worldwide. |
| `entity_status` | `ACTIVE` | `ACTIVE` for entities that still exist, `INACTIVE` for dissolved or merged ones, `ANY` for both. |
| `max_results` | `25` | Maximum records to return (1–1000). |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Optional | Enable a US-based proxy for the most reliable results. |

### Output

Each result is one legal entity:

```json
{
    "lei": "RCGZFPDMRW58VJ54VR07",
    "name": "SALESFORCE, INC.",
    "other_names": "SALESFORCE.COM, INC.",
    "entity_status": "ACTIVE",
    "entity_category": "GENERAL",
    "legal_form_code": "XTIQ",
    "jurisdiction": "US-DE",
    "registration_authority_id": "RA000602",
    "registration_number": "2991326",
    "legal_address": "C/O THE CORPORATION TRUST COMPANY, CORPORATION TRUST CENTER, 1209 ORANGE ST",
    "legal_city": "WILMINGTON",
    "legal_region": "US-DE",
    "legal_country": "US",
    "legal_postal_code": "19801",
    "hq_address": "Salesforce Tower, 415 Mission St.",
    "hq_city": "San Francisco",
    "hq_region": "US-CA",
    "hq_country": "US",
    "hq_postal_code": "94105",
    "creation_date": "1999-02-03T00:00:00Z",
    "registration_status": "ISSUED",
    "initial_registration_date": "2012-06-06T15:51:00Z",
    "last_update_date": "2025-10-22T08:45:46Z",
    "next_renewal_date": "2026-10-27T19:05:27Z",
    "managing_lou": "5493001KJTIIGC8Y1R12",
    "bic": "SFDCUS6SXXX",
    "opencorporates_id": "us_de/2991326",
    "opencorporates_url": "https://opencorporates.com/companies/us_de/2991326",
    "gleif_url": "https://search.gleif.org/#/record/RCGZFPDMRW58VJ54VR07",
    "raw": { ... }
}
```

`raw` keeps the original structured payload for the entity — including its event history, other addresses and any BIC, MIC or S\&P identifier mappings — so nothing is lost.

### Notes

- Runs with empty input — returns recently published active entities. No API key or account is required.
- This is registry data: legal identity, registration numbers and registered addresses. It does not carry work email addresses, direct-dial phone numbers, website domains, headcount or job titles, and no field is guessed or inferred.
- Coverage is limited to entities that hold an LEI, which is mandatory for entities trading in financial markets and voluntary otherwise — strongest for financial institutions, funds, listed companies and mid-to-large private companies, thin for small local businesses.
- Enable a US-based proxy for the most reliable results.

# Actor input Schema

## `search_terms` (type: `string`):

Comma-separated company names or keywords to search the Global LEI Index for, e.g. 'solar, wind'. Leave empty to page through entities without a name filter.

## `search_field` (type: `string`):

'Legal name' matches the entity's registered legal name only. 'Full text' matches anywhere in the record, including previous names and addresses, so it returns more but looser results.

## `countries` (type: `string`):

Comma-separated ISO-3166 alpha-2 country codes of the entity's legal address, e.g. 'DE, NL, GB'. Leave empty to search worldwide.

## `entity_status` (type: `string`):

ACTIVE returns entities that still exist, INACTIVE returns dissolved or merged ones, ANY returns both.

## `max_results` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of company records to return. Results are paged 200 per request.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy settings for the run. The GLEIF API is open worldwide and needs no proxy, but one can be enabled to spread requests across IPs. Optional — leave off to run directly.
