## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Maps Reviews Scraper

Collects reviews for any place listed on Google Maps. Point it at a business by name, Google Maps URL or place id and it returns each review with the reviewer's name, profile link, review and photo counts and Local Guide status, the star rating, exact and relative date, full review text and language, any photos attached to the review, per-aspect sub-ratings (e.g. Food / Service / Atmosphere) and the business owner's public reply when there is one.

### Input

| Field | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Place | `Epoch Coffee, 221 W N Loop Blvd, Austin, TX` | Business name with city/address, a full Google Maps URL, or a place id (`ChIJ..` or `0x..:0x..`). |
| Max reviews | `20` | Maximum number of reviews to return (up to 500). |
| Sort order | `newest` | `newest`, `most_relevant`, `highest` or `lowest`. |
| Proxy configuration | Apify proxy | Optional. Enable a US-based proxy for the most reliable results. |

### Output

One dataset record per review:

### Notes

- Runs with completely empty input (collects reviews for a sample place).
- Enable a US-based proxy for the most reliable results.
- Reviews are public Google Maps content; use the data in line with Google's terms of service, e.g. for research.

# Actor input Schema

## `place` (type: `string`):

The place to collect reviews for: a business name with city/address (e.g. 'Epoch Coffee, Austin TX'), a full Google Maps URL, or a place id (ChIJ.. or 0x..:0x..).

## `max_reviews` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of reviews to return. Reviews are collected 10-20 per page.

## `sort` (type: `string`):

Order in which reviews are collected.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy settings for the run. Enable a US-based proxy for the most reliable results, especially for sites that limit non-US or datacenter traffic. Optional — leave off to run directly.
