## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Macy's Product Scraper

Collects product and price data from Macy's.com. Give it a keyword or any Macy's category/search URL, and it returns one record per product with name, brand, prices, sale status, rating, and an image.

### Input

| Field | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `search_term` | `mens shirt` | Keyword to search on macys.com. Ignored when `start_url` is set. |
| `start_url` | `""` | Full Macy's category or search URL to scrape; overrides `search_term`. |
| `fetch_details` | `false` | Open each product page to add description, category, sku, availability, and the full `raw` payload. |
| `max_pages` | `5` | Maximum number of listing pages to page through (1–25). |
| `limit` | `20` | Maximum number of product records to return (1–500). |
| `proxyConfiguration` | US proxy on | Optional. Enable a US-based proxy for the most reliable results. |

### Output

Each product is one record. With `fetch_details` enabled, records also include `description`, `category`, `sku`, `availability`, and the full original payload in `raw`.

```json
{
    "product_id": "26219306",
    "name": "Men's Ultra Wrinkle Free Stretch Regular-Fit Dress Shirt",
    "brand": "Michael Kors",
    "url": "https://www.macys.com/shop/product/michael-kors-mens-regular-fit-ultra-wrinkle-free-stretch-dress-shirt?ID=26219306",
    "price": 68.6,
    "original_price": 98.0,
    "currency": "USD",
    "on_sale": true,
    "rating": 4.8,
    "review_count": 73,
    "image": "https://slimages.macysassets.com/is/image/MCY/products/7/optimized/37069577_fpx.tif"
}
```

### Notes

- Runs with empty input (defaults to a `mens shirt` search).
- Enable a US-based proxy for the most reliable results.
- For research/monitoring use; respect Macy's Terms of Service and robots.txt.

# Actor input Schema

## `search_term` (type: `string`):

Keyword to search on macys.com, e.g. 'mens shirt' or 'womens dress'. Ignored when 'start\_url' is set. If both are empty the actor scrapes the site-wide sale page.

## `start_url` (type: `string`):

A full macys.com category or search URL to scrape, e.g. https://www.macys.com/shop/featured/mens-shirts . Overrides 'search\_term' when set. Pagination follows the page's rel=next link.

## `fetch_details` (type: `boolean`):

If enabled, open each product page and enrich the record with JSON-LD data (description, category, sku, availability) plus the full 'raw' payload. Slower and uses one extra request per product.

## `max_pages` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of listing pages to page through (about 60 products per page).

## `limit` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of product records to return.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy settings for the run. Enable a US-based proxy for the most reliable results, especially for sites that limit non-US or datacenter traffic. Optional — leave off to run directly.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "search_term": "mens shirt",
  "start_url": "",
  "fetch_details": false,
  "max_pages": 5,
  "limit": 20,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true
  }
}
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
