## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Product Hunt Product Scraper

Collects products and daily launches from Product Hunt and returns one flat record per product — name, tagline, launch-day rank, upvotes and comments, review rating and review count, topics and categories, thumbnail and the Product Hunt page URL. Search by keyword, list a topic, or leave both empty to walk the daily launch board newest-first. Turn on details to also pull each product's full description, official website, follower count, makers and launch date.

### Input

| Field | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `search` | *(empty)* | Product keyword to search for, e.g. `ai note taking`, `design tool`, `crm`. Empty = collect the daily launches instead. |
| `topic` | *(empty)* | Collect the products listed under one topic, e.g. `artificial-intelligence`, `developer-tools`, `productivity`. Used only when no search keyword is given. |
| `limit` | `30` | Maximum products to return (1–500). |
| `include_details` | `false` | Also visit each product's page to add the description, official website, follower count, makers, launch date and topics. Slower. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Optional | Enable a US-based proxy for the most reliable results. |

### Output

Each result is one product. `rank`, `votes_count`, `comments_count` and `featured_on` are filled for daily launches; `reviews_rating` and `reviews_count` for search and topic results; the remaining detail fields appear when `include_details` is on:

### Notes

- Runs with empty input (returns the most recent daily launches, newest day first).
- Upvote counts for the current day are hidden by Product Hunt for the first few hours of that day and come back as `null`; earlier days carry full ranks and counts.
- Enable a US-based proxy for the most reliable results.
- Intended for research and personal use; please respect Product Hunt's terms of service.

# Actor input Schema

## `search` (type: `string`):

Product keyword to search for, e.g. 'ai note taking', 'design tool', 'crm'. Leave empty to collect the daily launches instead.

## `topic` (type: `string`):

Collect the products listed under one Product Hunt topic, e.g. 'artificial-intelligence', 'developer-tools', 'productivity'. Used only when no search keyword is given.

## `limit` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of products to return. Daily launches are collected day by day, newest first, until this many are found.

## `include_details` (type: `boolean`):

When enabled, each product's own page is also fetched and the record is enriched with the full description, official website, follower count, makers, launch date and topic list. Slower — one extra request per product.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy settings for the run. Enable a US-based proxy for the most reliable results, especially for sites that limit non-US or datacenter traffic. Optional — leave off to run directly.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "search": "ai note taking",
  "topic": "",
  "limit": 30,
  "include_details": false,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true
  }
}
```
