# Chemist Warehouse Scraper — Product Data (`muhammadafzal/chemist-warehouse-scraper`) Actor

Extract structured Chemist Warehouse Australia product data from supplied product URLs, category or brand pages, and search queries. The empty default input is a fast lifecycle health check; provide a target for data collection.

## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Chemist Warehouse Scraper

Scrapes public Chemist Warehouse Australia product data from product URLs, category or brand pages, and search queries. Provide at least one target input for a data run; the empty default input is intentionally a fast lifecycle health check because the target may intermittently return anti-bot challenges.

### Input examples

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["Blackmores", "vitamin C"],
  "maxResults": 25
}
```

For the most reliable runs, pass direct product URLs in `productUrls`. Category pages and searches are used only to discover `/buy/<id>/...` product links.

### Output

Each dataset row contains the product ID, title, brand, URL, images, current price, currency, RRP when visible, savings text, availability, description, breadcrumbs, and scrape timestamp. Results are deduplicated and validated before being written. A `SUMMARY` key-value record contains counts and warnings.

### Pricing

| Event | Price |
| --- | ---: |
| Actor start | $0.005 per GB of allocated memory, minimum one event |
| Validated product record | $0.01 per product |

The actor does not charge for blocked, malformed, or schema-invalid results. If all requests are blocked by an anti-bot challenge, the run fails with an actionable diagnostic instead of returning fabricated data.

Use only for data you are authorized to access and in accordance with Chemist Warehouse terms and applicable law.

# Actor input Schema

## `productUrls` (type: `array`):

Chemist Warehouse product detail URLs such as https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/115231/blackmores-multivitamin-for-50-sustained-release-60-tablets.

## `categoryUrls` (type: `array`):

Category, brand, or listing pages from Chemist Warehouse to discover product detail URLs.

## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):

Optional product or brand searches, for example Blackmores or vitamin C. Search pages are converted to Chemist Warehouse Australia URLs. Leave empty for the fast health-check run.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of unique product records to return.

## `requestDelayMs` (type: `integer`):

Delay between page requests. Higher values reduce load and may help with rate limits.

## `maxRequestRetries` (type: `integer`):

Maximum retries for transient navigation failures.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional Apify Proxy configuration. Residential or geographically appropriate proxy access may be needed if the site presents an anti-bot challenge.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "searchQueries": [],
  "maxResults": 1,
  "requestDelayMs": 500,
  "maxRequestRetries": 0
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `summary` (type: `string`):

Counts, warnings, blocked requests, and billing summary.

## `products` (type: `string`):

Validated Chemist Warehouse product records.

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("muhammadafzal/chemist-warehouse-scraper").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
