## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Clutch Agency Leads & Review Intelligence

Find public agency prospects on Clutch and turn their profiles into structured lead and review-intelligence records. The Actor accepts Clutch directory pages such as `https://clutch.co/agencies/digital` and direct profile URLs such as `https://clutch.co/profile/example-agency`.

### What it returns

Each dataset item is one public agency profile with:

- agency name, profile URL, website, logo, location, founding year, team size, hourly rate, and minimum project size;
- Clutch rating and review count;
- service categories, industries, and specialization labels detected on the profile;
- public review metadata and text when `includeReviews` is enabled;
- source URL, collection timestamp, and non-fatal warnings.

The output is designed for lead scoring, agency shortlists, competitor research, vendor comparison, and downstream CRM enrichment. It does not infer private contact details or bypass login, CAPTCHA, or Cloudflare access controls.

### Input

`startUrls` is required. Use one or more Clutch directory/search URLs for discovery, or direct `/profile/` URLs for exact profiles.

`maxResults` defaults to 10 and is capped at 100. `maxPages` defaults to 2 and is capped at 10. `includeReviews` defaults to true. Review extraction adds a profile-page request and may increase runtime and proxy usage.

If the target responds with a managed challenge, the Actor reports `BLOCKED` in `OUTPUT`, writes zero fabricated records, and charges no result events for blocked pages. Retry later or provide an authorized Apify proxy configuration.

### Pricing

The primary PPE event is one normalized agency profile written to the default dataset. The configured source price is $0.08 per delivered profile, plus a $0.01 run-start event where enabled by live Apify monetization. A blocked, empty, or rejected run has no result charges.

### Example

```json
{
  "startUrls": [{ "url": "https://clutch.co/agencies/digital" }],
  "maxResults": 25,
  "maxPages": 3,
  "includeReviews": true
}
```

### Compliance and limitations

Use only public pages and data you are authorized to process. Respect Clutch terms, robots guidance, applicable privacy law, and downstream outreach rules. Clutch may change markup or apply anti-bot challenges; the Actor surfaces those conditions in run status and `OUTPUT` rather than guessing missing values.

### Use cases

- Build public prospect lists and qualify organizations or professionals before responsible outreach.
- Run a one-off research job and export the structured result as JSON, CSV, Excel, XML, or RSS from Apify.
- Schedule the same input to monitor changes over time and send completed datasets to a webhook or integration.
- Feed schema-shaped records into a database, spreadsheet, BI tool, or AI workflow with the source URL retained for verification.

### Output example

```json
{
  "profileUrl": "Example profileUrl",
  "name": "Example name",
  "description": "Example description",
  "website": "Example website",
  "logoUrl": "Example logoUrl",
  "location": "Example location",
  "foundedYear": 1,
  "companySize": "Example companySize",
  "hourlyRate": "Example hourlyRate",
  "minimumProjectSize": "Example minimumProjectSize",
  "rating": 1,
  "reviewCount": 1
}
```

The exact fields depend on the selected input and what the public source exposes. Use the dataset schema as the machine-readable contract and retain source URLs for verification.

### Run Clutch Agency Leads & Review Intelligence with the Apify API

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
const client = new ApifyClient({ token: process.env.APIFY_TOKEN });
const run = await client.actor('muhammadafzal/clutch-agency-leads-intelligence').call({
  "startUrls": [
    {
      "url": "https://clutch.co/agencies/digital"
    }
  ],
  "maxResults": 10,
  "maxPages": 2,
  "includeReviews": true,
  "proxyConfiguration": {}
});
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
console.log(items);
```

You can also run the Actor from Apify Console, schedules, webhooks, the REST API, Make, Zapier, n8n, or the hosted Apify MCP server.

### Support

When reporting a problem, include the **Actor run ID**, a redacted input, the expected result, and a small public example URL when applicable. Do not post API tokens, cookies, credentials, or personal data in an issue.

### Frequently asked questions

#### Can I schedule Clutch Agency Leads & Review Intelligence?

Yes. Use an Apify schedule to run the same saved input at a chosen interval, then connect a webhook or integration to process the dataset when the run finishes.

#### How should I test a new input?

Begin with the prefilled example or a small limit. Confirm that the output fields, source coverage, runtime, and live charges match your workflow before increasing the scope.

#### How do I export the results?

Open the run's default dataset in Apify Console and export JSON, CSV, Excel, XML, or RSS. Applications can retrieve the same records through the Apify API client or REST dataset endpoint.

#### Can an AI agent call this Actor?

Yes. Add `muhammadafzal/clutch-agency-leads-intelligence` through the hosted Apify MCP server or call it through the API. The Actor's input and dataset schemas help agents construct valid requests and interpret returned records.

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Use this when you have a public Clutch directory/search URL or company profile URL. Accepts https://clutch.co URLs; example: https://clutch.co/agencies/digital. Profile URLs collect one agency; directory URLs discover profile links.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Use this to cap the number of agency profiles returned. Enter 1 to 100; default is 10. This is a result cap, not a page count.

## `maxPages` (type: `integer`):

Use this when a directory has pagination. Enter 1 to 10; default is 2. Direct profile URLs do not use this setting.

## `includeReviews` (type: `boolean`):

Use this when review text, ratings, client industries, project budgets, and reviewer roles are needed. Detail pages take more requests; default is true.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Use this when Clutch challenges the default cloud route. Provide an Apify proxy configuration object; an empty object uses the Actor default.

  "startUrls": [
    {
