## Pricing

Pay per usage

This Actor is paid per platform usage. The Actor is free to use, and you only pay for the Apify platform usage, which gets cheaper the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## MCP Server for AI Agents: Google Trends Realtime & Entities

An always-on **Model Context Protocol (MCP) server** and batch Actor that reads **Google Trends realtime trending searches**,
the **trending RSS news feed** and **Knowledge Graph entity (mid) autocomplete** for AI agents (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf,
OpenAI Agents, LangChain) and monitoring workflows. Every record carries search volume, growth, start/end time, related queries,
categories, news items and a ready-to-use Google Trends Explore URL.

No proxies, no logins, no cookies, no personal data: only public Google Trends endpoints are called.

### What it does

| Mode | Source | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| `trending` | `i0OFE` realtime trends (+ RSS news) | Search volume, growth percent, start/end time, active flag, related queries, categories, attached news |
| `rss_only` | `trending_rss` | Trending RSS items with approximate traffic, picture and news items |
| `entities` | `autocomplete` | Knowledge Graph entities (`mid`, `title`, `entity_type`) for each query |

### Endpoints

- `GET /` and `GET /health`: return `{"status":"ok","actor":"google-trends-realtime-mcp","version":"0.1","tools":[...]}`.
- `POST /mcp`: MCP JSON-RPC 2.0 (`initialize`, `ping`, `tools/list`, `tools/call`). Notifications return HTTP 202.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default |
|---|---|---|
| `mode` | `trending`, `rss_only`, `entities` | `trending` |
| `geos` | string\[] (1 to 10 country codes) | `["US"]` |
| `hours` | `4`, `24`, `48`, `168` | `24` |
| `hl` | language code | `en` |
| `category` | category id or name fragment | none |
| `min_search_volume` | integer >= 0 | none |
| `min_growth_percent` | integer >= 0 | none |
| `active_only` | boolean | `false` |
| `query_filter` | string (matches query or related queries) | none |
| `queries` | string\[] (max 50, required for `entities`) | `[]` |
| `include_news` | boolean | `true` |
| `max_items` | integer 1 to 500 | `50` |
| `max_total_charge_usd` | number or null | no cap |

An empty input `{}` is valid (realtime trends for the US, last 24 hours, 50 items). Invalid input is rejected with
`INVALID_INPUT_ZERO_CHARGE` before any network call or charge.

### Output record

Every record has exactly the same keys; unused ones are `null` or empty.

### MCP usage

Standby URL: `https://mutualistic-housing--google-trends-realtime-mcp.apify.actor/mcp` (authenticate with your Apify API token).

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "google-trends": {
      "url": "https://mutualistic-housing--google-trends-realtime-mcp.apify.actor/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <APIFY_API_TOKEN>" }
    }
  }
}
```

Tools:

- **`get_realtime_trends`**: realtime trends with `geos`, `hours`, `category`, `min_search_volume`, `min_growth_percent`, `active_only`, `query_filter`, `include_news`, `max_items`, `max_total_charge_usd`.
- **`get_trending_news_rss`**: trending RSS items with news for `geos` (`max_items`, `max_total_charge_usd`).
- **`resolve_entities`**: Knowledge Graph entities for `queries` (required), `hl`, `max_items`, `max_total_charge_usd`.
- **`list_supported_geos_and_categories`**: free; lists supported geos, categories, lookback hours, modes and pricing.

Billed tools return `results`, `count`, `charged`, `errors`, `truncated` and `tasks_skipped`.

```json
{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"get_realtime_trends","arguments":{"geos":["US","GB"],"hours":24,"min_search_volume":10000,"max_items":20}}}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.002 per result returned** (`result-returned`); the `actor-start` event is free. `max_items` and
`max_total_charge_usd` are hard caps enforced in code, so a run never charges more than you configure. Invalid input and
empty results are never charged.

### Limits

- Up to 10 geos and 50 entity queries per call; `max_items` is capped at 500.
- Each upstream request has a wall-clock timeout and an 8 MiB response cap; 429 and 5xx responses are retried and reported in `errors` without failing the run.
- MCP tool calls have a 45 second overall deadline; tasks that do not fit are counted in `tasks_skipped` and `truncated` is set.
- Google Trends data reflects what Google shows at request time and can change between runs. Search volume is approximate.

Keep only trends that are still active.

## `query_filter` (type: `string`):

Case-insensitive text that must appear in the trend query or in one of its related queries.

## `queries` (type: `array`):

Terms to resolve to Knowledge Graph entities (mode = entities; 1 to 50 entries, each up to 100 characters).

## `include_news` (type: `boolean`):

Attach news items from the trending RSS feed to realtime trends.

## `max_items` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of records to return (and be charged for), 1 to 500.

## `max_total_charge_usd` (type: `number`):

Hard spending cap for this run; results are truncated so the charge never exceeds it.
