## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Reviews Scraper

Scrape **Apple App Store reviews** by app ID or URL — **star rating, title, text, app version, date, and votes** — with **no API key and nothing to configure**. A fast, reliable way to collect iOS app reviews for ASO, product feedback, and competitor research.

Give it an app ID (or App Store URL) and get clean, structured reviews you can export to CSV, Excel, or JSON.

### Features

- **Rock-solid reliability** — reads Apple's own public RSS review feed. Nothing to configure — runs just work.
- **Break the 500-review cap** — the fast RSS feed tops out at ~500 reviews per app; ask for more and the Actor automatically switches to a deep mode that pulls **thousands** of reviews (with developer replies).
- **The fields that matter** — reviews include **rating**, title, text, date, and (in deep mode) the **developer reply**; RSS mode also returns the **app version**.
- **No API key, no quota** — no Apple developer account, no tokens, no per-day cap.
- **Cheapest in its class** — pay-per-result from **$1 / 1,000 reviews**, and you only pay for reviews actually returned.

### Use cases

- **ASO & product** — mine 1–2★ reviews for recurring complaints and feature requests.
- **Release monitoring** — group reviews by `appVersion` to see how a build landed.
- **Competitor research** — pull a rival app's reviews per country and read what its users say.
- **Sentiment & LLM pipelines** — feed structured review text into your own analysis.

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `appIds` | string\[] | Numeric App Store IDs, e.g. `324684580` (Spotify). |
| `startUrls` | list | App Store URLs — the numeric id after `/id…` is parsed. |
| `maxReviews` | integer | Max reviews per app (Apple exposes ~500 per country). Default 100. |
| `country` | string | App Store country code, e.g. `us`, `gb`, `tr`, `de`. |
| `sortBy` | enum | `mostRecent` or `mostHelpful`. |

#### How to find an app ID

Open the app on the App Store website and copy the number after `id` in the URL:
`https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spotify/id324684580` → `324684580`. You can also paste the full URL into `startUrls`.

#### Example

```json
{
  "appIds": ["324684580"],
  "maxReviews": 200,
  "country": "us",
  "sortBy": "mostRecent"
}
```

### Output

```json
{
  "reviewId": "14410518714",
  "appId": "324684580",
  "userName": "Kiwi1334",
  "rating": 5,
  "title": "Will always be a fan of Spotify",
  "text": "I've used many platforms to listen to my jams…",
  "appVersion": "9.1.72",
  "voteSum": 0,
  "voteCount": 0,
  "updated": "2026-08-10T06:26:51-07:00",
  "url": "https://itunes.apple.com/us/reviews/id...",
  "country": "us",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-08-11T16:00:00.000Z"
}
```

Download the dataset as **JSON, CSV, Excel, or XML**, or pull it via the Apify API.

### Pricing

Pay-per-event: **$0.01 per run start** (per GB of run memory) plus **$1.00 per 1,000 reviews**. You only pay for reviews actually returned. See the **Pricing** tab for current rates.

### FAQ

**Do I need an Apple API key?**
No. This Actor reads Apple's public RSS review feed — no developer account, no tokens.

**How many reviews can I get?**
The fast RSS feed exposes up to ~500 reviews per app **per country**. Set `maxReviews` above ~490 and the Actor switches to a deep mode that breaks that cap and returns **thousands** per app. You can also widen coverage further by running several `country` codes.

**What's the difference between the two modes?**
Up to ~490 reviews come from Apple's RSS feed (instant, includes app version). Above that, deep mode collects thousands of reviews with developer replies; it takes longer. If deep mode is unavailable, the Actor returns the RSS reviews instead.

**Can I export to CSV or Excel?**
Yes. Every run's dataset downloads as CSV, Excel, JSON, or XML, or via the Apify API.
