## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Maps Scraper

Scrape **Google Maps business listings** by search query — **name, address, phone, website, rating, category, and coordinates** — with **no API key**. A fast, low-cost way to build local business lead lists and location datasets.

Type a search like `dentists in Austin TX`, get a clean table of businesses with their contact details, ready to export to CSV, Excel, or JSON.

### Features

- **Business leads, not just names** — every result includes the **phone number and website** when Google lists them, plus address, rating, and category — the fields lead-gen actually needs.
- **Fast and low-cost** — runs finish in seconds.
- **Cheapest in its class** — pay-per-result from **$0.50 / 1,000 places**, well under the common $1.50–4.00 / 1,000.
- **No API key, no quota** — no Google Cloud project, no billing setup, no per-day cap.

### What you get

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| `name` | Business name |
| `category` / `categories` | Primary category and all listed categories |
| `address` / `city` | Full address and city line |
| `phone` / `phoneInternational` | Local and E.164 phone number |
| `website` | Business website |
| `rating` | Average star rating |
| `latitude` / `longitude` | Coordinates |
| `placeId` | Google place id |
| `googleMapsUrl` | Direct Google Maps link |

### Use cases

- **Lead generation** — build lists of local businesses (with phone + website) for outreach.
- **Local SEO & market research** — map competitors in a city and category.
- **Data enrichment** — attach categories, ratings, and coordinates to a list of business types + locations.
- **Territory planning** — export businesses per area for sales or delivery coverage.

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `searchQueries` | string\[] | One search per line, ideally `"<what> in <where>"`. |
| `maxItems` | integer | Max places per query. Default 20. |
| `language` | string | Interface language (`hl`), e.g. `en`, `tr`, `de`. |
| `country` | string | Content country (`gl`), e.g. `us`, `tr`, `gb`. |

#### Example

```json
{
  "searchQueries": [
    "dentists in Austin TX",
    "coffee shops in Brooklyn NY"
  ],
  "maxItems": 100
}
```

### Output

```json
{
  "name": "Moka & Co",
  "placeId": "0x89c25bd0cf1340c9:0x2dff5312c14e5a81",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-08-11T16:00:00.000Z"
}
```

Download the dataset as **JSON, CSV, Excel, or XML**, or pull it via the Apify API.

### FAQ

**Do I need a Google API key?**
No. This Actor reads Google Maps' public search results and returns structured results — no API key, no Google Cloud project, no quota.

**How do I target a specific city?**
Put the location in the query: `"plumbers in Dallas TX"`, `"hotels in Miami FL"`. The location in the query drives the results.

**Can I export to CSV or Excel?**
Yes. Every run's dataset downloads as CSV, Excel, JSON, or XML, or via the Apify API.

**What happens if Google blocks a request?**
The Actor retries briefly, then returns whatever it collected (or an empty dataset) — it does not fail the run.

### Pricing

Pay-per-event: **$0.01 per run start** (per GB of run memory) plus **$0.50 per 1,000 places**. You only pay for places actually returned. See the **Pricing** tab for current rates.
