## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## SEC 13F Holdings — Hedge Fund & Institutional Portfolios

**See what Berkshire, Bridgewater, Citadel or any other institution owns — and what they bought and sold last quarter.**
Every investment manager with over $100M in US equities files a **13F** with the SEC each quarter. This Actor turns those
filings into a clean table: one row per position, with value, shares, portfolio weight and the change against the
previous quarter.

| You enter | You get |
|---|---|
| `Berkshire Hathaway`, `Bridgewater`, `Pershing Square` or any 13F filer's CIK | one row per position: issuer, CUSIP, **value**, **shares**, **% of portfolio**, rank, and **NEW / ADDED / REDUCED / UNCHANGED / SOLD OUT** with share change |

### Example row (Berkshire Hathaway, Q2 2026)

```json
{
  "type": "holding",
  "managerName": "BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY INC",
  "period": "2026-06-30",
  "filingDate": "2026-08-14",
  "portfolioValueUsd": 299253556246,
  "positionsCount": 29,
  "rank": 1,
  "issuer": "APPLE INC",
  "cusip": "037833100",
  "valueUsd": 65950296923,
  "shares": 227917808,
  "portfolioWeightPct": 22.038,
  "changeType": "UNCHANGED",
  "previousShares": 227917808,
  "sharesChange": 0,
  "sharesChangePct": 0,
  "previousValueUsd": 57843260493
}
```

Also in every row: `managerCik`, `titleOfClass`, `figi`, `putCall`, `sharesType`, `investmentDiscretion`,
`votingSole` / `votingShared` / `votingNone` and `filingUrl` (the SEC filing).

### Who uses it

- **Investors and newsletter writers:** follow "smart money" — new positions and exits of top funds every quarter.
- **Analysts and IR teams:** see which institutions hold, buy or sell a stock you cover.
- **Fintech and AI apps:** a structured, sourced feed of institutional portfolios for dashboards, screeners or LLM agents.

### Why this one

- **Changes, not just lists.** Quarter-over-quarter comparison is built in, including positions the fund fully sold.
- **Clean numbers.** Positions split across sub-managers are summed per security; options (puts/calls) are kept separate
  and can be switched off. Values filed before 2023 (reported in thousands) are converted to dollars.
- **Amendments handled.** Restatements replace the original report; "new holdings" amendments (confidential positions
  disclosed later) are added to the quarter.
- **Any 13F filer.** 30 well-known managers work by name; any other by CIK (the number in the manager's SEC EDGAR URL).
- **Official source, fast.** Straight from SEC EDGAR — Berkshire takes about 3 seconds, Citadel's 13,000+ positions a few more.

### Pricing

**Pay per holding row.** Error rows are free. Use *Top N* or *Min. position value* to get only the positions you care about,
and set a maximum cost per run — the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached.

### Input

| Field | Default | |
|---|---|---|
| `managers` | — | CIKs or known names |
| `quarters` | 1 | Latest N quarters per manager |
| `compareWithPrevious` | true | Change type and share change |
| `includeSoldOut` | true | Rows for exited positions |
| `topN` | 0 (all) | Largest N positions per quarter (+ up to N largest exits) |
| `minValueUsd` | — | Skip small positions |
| `includeOptions` | true | Put/call rows |
| `maxResults` | 5000 | Total row limit |

### Good to know

- 13F covers long positions in US-listed equities, ETFs, options and some convertibles. It does not show shorts, cash,
  bonds or non-US holdings. Reports are due 45 days after quarter end, so they show the portfolio at quarter end, not today.
- **Institutions only.** Filers that are individual people are refused, and names, signatures and phone numbers from the
  filings are never returned.
- The Actor follows the SEC's fair-access rules (identifies itself, stays under 10 requests per second). For large runs you can add
  your `contactEmail`, which is sent only to sec.gov.
- Not affiliated with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Not investment advice.
