## Pricing

from $2.49 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event and usage. You are charged both the fixed price for specific events and for Apify platform usage.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# Actor input Schema

## `newsCategory` (type: `string`):

Find companies in this Crunchbase News category, by name: Venture, Seed funding, Artificial intelligence, Fintech, M\&A, IPO, Cybersecurity ... The category id is looked up on every run. Each company linked in a matching article becomes a row.

## `newsQuery` (type: `string`):

Find companies in Crunchbase News articles that match this keyword, e.g. "series a", "fintech" or "robotics" (WordPress search: a loose word match).

## `announcedAfter` (type: `string`):

Only articles published on or after this day, e.g. 2026-09-01 (YYYY-MM-DD).

## `announcedBefore` (type: `string`):

Only articles published on or before this day, e.g. 2026-10-01 (YYYY-MM-DD).

## `minAmountUsd` (type: `integer`):

Only companies with a dollar amount of at least this much in the same sentence of the article, e.g. 10000000 for rounds of $10M and up. Investors named in that sentence ("led by ...") match too.

## `maxAmountUsd` (type: `integer`):

Only companies with a dollar amount of at most this much in the same sentence of the article, e.g. 5000000 for rounds up to $5M.

## `roundTypes` (type: `array`):

Only companies whose sentence names one of these: Pre-Seed, Seed, Angel, Series A ... Series K, Venture, Venture Debt, Debt, Growth Equity, Private Equity, Convertible Note, Grant, IPO, SPAC, Acquisition. Matched in the article text (applied here, not by Crunchbase).

## `skipInvestors` (type: `boolean`):

Leave out organizations the sentence names as backers ("led by ...", "... participated"), so the list holds the funded companies. The role is guessed from the article wording and shown in mentionRole.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

How many company rows to return. The Actor reads Crunchbase News page after page (20 articles each) until this many companies are found or the archive ends.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Crunchbase organization pages to open in a headless browser, e.g. https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/airbnb or the permalink airbnb. Measured 2026-10-09: Crunchbase answered our only test (US residential IP) with a Cloudflare block page, so expect these to fail; a failed profile is logged and not charged.

## `fetchProfiles` (type: `boolean`):

Off (default): fast news rows. On: opens every found company's profile page in a headless browser; when Cloudflare blocks it (measured 2026-10-09) the row keeps its news fields with profileStatus "blocked", and after 3 blocks in a row no more profiles are tried.

## `rawMode` (type: `boolean`):

Profile mode only: adds `rawCards` (every property and card the profile page delivers) to each row and saves the page HTML in the key-value store as PAGE-<permalink>.html.

## `maxSessions` (type: `integer`):

Profile mode only: on a Cloudflare block or check the Actor tries a new browser session (new proxy IP) up to this many times. It never answers a CAPTCHA.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Residential proxy in the United States is the default. Crunchbase News needs no special proxy; profile pages are behind Cloudflare.
