## Pricing

from $2.00 / 1,000 keyword results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Trends Scraper — interest over time, by region, related queries and topics

Export **Google Trends** data for any keyword, country and time range, as structured rows you can use in a spreadsheet, dashboard, notebook or AI agent:

- **Interest over time**: the full 0–100 series with dates and partial-period flags, plus the **average**, the **peak value** and the **peak date**
- **Interest by region**: states, regions, cities or metros, or countries when the search is worldwide
- **Related queries** and **related topics**, both **top** and **rising** (breakout percentages included)
- **Compare mode**: put up to 5 terms on one shared scale, exactly like typing them into one Google Trends chart
- Any **country or region**, any **time range** including a custom date range, any **category**, and **web, news, image, Google Shopping or YouTube** search

It's pure HTTP with no browser. Rate-limited requests (HTTP 429) back off and are retried automatically on a fresh session. If a term still can't be fetched, it's reported in `RUN_SUMMARY` and not charged.

### Output: one row per keyword

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| `keyword`, `geo`, `timeRange`, `category`, `property`, `comparedWith` | What was measured |
| `interestOverTime` | `[{date, label, value, isPartial}]` |
| `averageInterest`, `peakInterest`, `peakDate` | Summary of the series |
| `interestByRegion` | `[{geoCode, name, value}]` |
| `relatedQueriesTop`, `relatedQueriesRising` | `[{query, value, formattedValue, link}]` |
| `relatedTopicsTop`, `relatedTopicsRising` | `[{topic, topicType, topicId, value, formattedValue, link}]` |
| `trendsUrl`, `scrapedAt` | Link to the same chart on Google Trends |

Google Trends values are **relative** (0–100 within the chosen term, place and period). They are not search volumes. Turn on compare mode when you need several terms on the same scale.

### How to use it

```json
{
  "searchTerms": ["electric bikes", "e-scooter", "cargo bike"],
  "compareTerms": true,
  "geo": "GB",
  "timeRange": "past_5_years",
  "includeInterestByRegion": true,
  "includeRelated": true
}
```

- Leave `geo` empty for worldwide results, or use a region code such as `US-CA`.
- `customTimeRange` accepts `YYYY-MM-DD YYYY-MM-DD`.
- `searchProperty`: `web`, `news`, `images`, `shopping` or `youtube`.

### Use cases

SEO and content planning, product and market research, seasonality forecasting, brand and competitor tracking, newsroom trend spotting, ecommerce demand planning, and grounding AI agents in real search interest.

### Pricing

Pay per result: one charge per keyword row. Check the **Pricing** tab for the current rate, and set a **maximum charge per run** when you start.

### Reliability

Google Trends rate-limits automated traffic heavily. This Actor keeps each term's requests on one session, because Google ties chart tokens to the session that opened the chart. It backs off on 429 and restarts the term on a new residential session when needed. `RUN_SUMMARY` records every term's status, request counts and how many rate-limited responses were retried.

### A note on "rising" queries

For some broad terms, Google Trends now shows unrelated generic queries as "rising", such as "how to bake a cake". These are genuinely in Google's data, likely generated by automated or AI-agent search traffic. This Actor returns them exactly as Google publishes them, so filter them out if you don't need them.
