## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## France Company Registry Search — SIREN, SIRET & NAF Records

**Official source. No API key. Pay per record.**

This actor searches the official French company directory — the **API Recherche d'entreprises** of the Annuaire des Entreprises, run by the French government's digital agency (DINUM) on data from **INSEE Sirene** and the **INPI national company register (RNE)** — and returns one clean record per legal entity: SIREN, head-office SIRET, registered name, status, legal form, NAF activity code, creation date, size category and headcount band, head-office address and coordinates, VAT number, latest published revenue and net income where available, and certification flags (ESS, RGE, Qualiopi, Agence Bio, société à mission).

Search by name or address words, by activity code, by department or postal code, by legal form and by size category, alone or combined. Each search can return up to **10,000 companies** (the API's limit per search); for example, active computer-programming companies (NAF 62.01Z) alone fill that window.

Use it three ways:

- **Prospect lists.** Every active company with a given NAF code in a department or postal code, largest first.
- **Company checks (KYB).** Look up a SIREN or SIRET to confirm the legal name, status, legal form and registered address.
- **Market mapping.** Count and locate companies by activity, size and region; follow new creations.

### Who buys this and for what job

- **Sales and lead-generation teams** building B2B target lists of French companies by sector and area.
- **Compliance, KYB and onboarding teams** checking that a French supplier or customer exists and is active.
- **Finance, credit and procurement teams** enriching supplier files with SIREN, VAT and legal form.
- **Market researchers and consultants** sizing a sector in France.
- **CRM and data teams** cleaning and deduplicating French company records.

### Input

```json
{
  "query": "boulangerie",
  "departments": ["13"],
  "status": "active",
  "maxRecords": 10
}
```

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `query` | Words from the company's name, acronym or head-office address, or a SIREN/SIRET |
| `activityCodes` | NAF rev. 2 codes, e.g. `62.01Z`, `10.71C` |
| `departments` | Department codes, e.g. `75`, `13`, `2A`, `974` |
| `postalCodes` | 5-digit postal codes |
| `legalFormCodes` | INSEE legal category codes, e.g. `5710` (SAS), `5499` (SARL), `9220` (association) |
| `companyCategories` | `PME`, `ETI`, `GE` |
| `status` | `active` (default), `ceased` or `any` |
| `sortBySize` | Largest companies (most establishments) first |
| `maxRecords` | Most records delivered and billed in this run |

At least one search criterion is needed. Department and postal-code filters match a company with any establishment in that area; the record shows the head office.

### Privacy: organisations only

- **No officers, directors or beneficial owners.** The actor calls the API in its minimal mode without the `dirigeants` block, so director data is never even requested, and builds every record from a fixed list of organisation fields.
- **No sole traders.** Entreprises individuelles (legal category 1xxx — a natural person) are excluded at the source and again in the actor.
- **Non-diffusible entities are dropped.** Only entities and head offices marked publicly diffusible are kept.
- **No shop signs or trade names**, which often carry a person's name.
- **No search by person.** The API's text search also matches directors' names; this actor keeps a result only when every search word appears in the organisation's own name, acronym, head-office address or identifiers. A search for a person's name therefore returns only companies named after that person, not the companies they direct.

Dropped results are counted in the run receipt and never charged.

### Pricing

| Apify plan | Price per record |
|---|---|
| Free | $0.05 |
| Bronze | $0.045 |
| Silver | $0.04 |
| Gold, Platinum, Diamond | $0.0335 |

One record = one legal entity (SIREN). Records are delivered first and charged after; if you set a maximum total charge, the actor stops before delivering records it could not charge for.

### Run end states and receipt

- **Delivered N French company record(s)** — with a note when your `maxRecords` limit or the API's 10,000-per-search window was reached.
- **Nothing matched your filters** — nothing charged.
- **CAPPED** — stopped at your maximum total charge.
- **PARTIAL** — the API stopped answering part-way; what was delivered is kept and charged, nothing else.
- **SOURCE UNAVAILABLE** — the API could not be reached after retries; nothing charged.

The `RUN_RECEIPT` record in the key-value store lists the robots.txt decision, pages read, retries, the total the API reported, results dropped by each privacy rule, and delivered and charged counts. The actor stays under 3 requests per second (the API allows 7) and honours `Retry-After` on HTTP 429.

### Source and licence

Data: INSEE (base Sirene) and INPI (Registre national des entreprises), served by the [API Recherche d'entreprises](https://recherche-entreprises.api.gouv.fr) of the Annuaire des Entreprises (DINUM). The Sirene base and the directory data on data.gouv.fr are published under the **Licence Ouverte / Open Licence 2.0 (Etalab)**, which allows commercial reuse with attribution. Every record carries `source`, `source_dataset`, `licence`, `attribution` and `observed_at`. This actor is not affiliated with INSEE, INPI or DINUM.
