## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Fund & ETF Holdings API — SEC Form N-PORT Portfolio Records

**Official source. No API key. Pay per record.**

This actor returns the portfolio holdings of U.S. registered funds — **ETFs, mutual funds and other registered investment companies** — from the SEC's official **Form N-PORT Data Sets**, published quarterly by the SEC's Division of Economic and Risk Analysis. One record is one position of one fund in one report: issuer, CUSIP, ISIN, ticker, LEI, quantity, value in US dollars, percent of the fund's net assets, asset category, issuer type, country, fair-value level and derivative type, together with the fund's name, EDGAR series id, trust, net assets and report date.

The 2026q2 data set (published 9 July 2026) holds **14,416 N-PORT filings and about 5.35 million holdings**. Money market funds report on a different form and are not included.

Use it three ways:

- **One fund's portfolio.** All holdings of an ETF or mutual fund by name or EDGAR series id — for example the 507 positions of the iShares Core S\&P 500 ETF as of 31 March 2026.
- **Who holds a security.** Every fund holding a given CUSIP or issuer name (for example NVIDIA), with each fund's position size and weight.
- **A fund family.** Every fund of one trust (by CIK) or matching a name such as "Vanguard" or "SPDR".

### Who buys this and for what job

- **Asset managers and analysts** comparing ETF and mutual fund portfolios, overlaps and weights.
- **Issuers, investor-relations and capital-markets teams** seeing which funds hold their stock or bonds.
- **Quant and research teams** building fund-flow, crowding and ownership datasets from official filings.
- **Wealth managers and fintech apps** showing look-through holdings of the funds their clients own.
- **Journalists and academics** studying what funds own.

### Input

```json
{
  "fundNameContains": ["iShares Core S&P 500 ETF"],
  "quarter": "latest",
  "maxRecords": 10
}
```

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `fundNameContains` | Text in the fund (series) name or the trust name |
| `seriesIds` | EDGAR series ids, e.g. `S000004310` |
| `registrantCiks` | Trust CIKs, e.g. `1100663` (iShares Trust) |
| `issuerCusips` | Only holdings of these CUSIPs — which funds hold a security |
| `issuerNameContains` | Only holdings whose issuer name or title contains this text |
| `assetCategories` | N-PORT asset codes: `EC` equity, `DBT` debt, `STIV` short-term vehicle, `ABS-MBS`, `DFE` FX derivative… |
| `quarter` | `latest` (default) or a data set like `2026q2`; data sets go back to 2019q4 |
| `latestReportPerSeries` | Keep only each fund's newest report in the data set (default on) |
| `includeIdentifiers` | Attach ISIN and ticker (default on) |
| `maxRecords` | Most records delivered and billed in this run |

Without any filter the actor returns holdings in data-set order up to `maxRecords`. A run reads the quarterly ZIP directly from sec.gov with byte-range requests — only the tables it needs, about 380 MB, nothing stored — and takes one to two minutes when a search has to read the whole holdings table (85 seconds for the iShares Core S\&P 500 ETF in the proof run), less when `maxRecords` is reached early.

**Timing.** Funds file N-PORT monthly, but the SEC makes each fund's quarter-end report public about 60 days later, and the data set for a quarter contains the filings disseminated during that quarter. So the 2026q2 data set holds reports filed in April–June 2026 (the iShares Core S\&P 500 ETF report in it is as of 31 March 2026); `report_period_date` on every record gives the exact as-of date.

### Privacy

Funds' street addresses and phone numbers and the securities-lending borrower table are never read, and each record is built from a fixed list of fields. An issuer's name and title are kept when the holding is identified (valid LEI, CUSIP, ISIN or ticker), when the fund reports a corporate, government, municipal or fund issuer type, or when it is a derivative contract. For the rare holding with issuer type "other" and no identifier — which could name a private individual — the name and title are withheld and `issuer_name_withheld` is `true`; the position's value and classification are still delivered.

### Pricing

| Apify plan | Price per record |
|---|---|
| Free | $0.05 |
| Bronze | $0.045 |
| Silver | $0.04 |
| Gold, Platinum, Diamond | $0.0335 |

One record = one holding. Records are delivered first and charged after; with a maximum total charge set, the actor stops before delivering records it could not charge for.

### Run end states and receipt

- **Delivered N N-PORT holding record(s)** — with a note when your `maxRecords` limit was reached.
- **Nothing matched your filters** — nothing charged.
- **CAPPED** — stopped at your maximum total charge.
- **SOURCE UNAVAILABLE** — the SEC data set could not be read after retries; nothing charged.

The `RUN_RECEIPT` record lists the sec.gov robots.txt decision, the data set used and its publication date, filings in the data set and selected, holding rows scanned, transfer size and requests, privacy withholdings, and delivered and charged counts. The actor identifies itself to sec.gov with a descriptive User-Agent, as the SEC's fair-access policy asks.

### Source and licence

Data: U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, [Form N-PORT Data Sets](https://www.sec.gov/data-research/sec-markets-data/form-n-port-data-sets), as filed by the funds (including amendments). # Actor input Schema

## `fundNameContains` (type: `array`):

Only funds whose series name or registrant (trust) name contains any of these texts (not case-sensitive), e.g. 'Vanguard Total Stock Market', 'SPDR', 'iShares'.

## `seriesIds` (type: `array`):

Exact EDGAR series ids, e.g. S000004310 (iShares Core S\&P 500 ETF).

## `registrantCiks` (type: `array`):

SEC CIK numbers of the registrant (trust), e.g. 1100663 (iShares Trust).

## `issuerCusips` (type: `array`):

Only holdings of these 9-character CUSIPs — which funds hold a given security.

## `issuerNameContains` (type: `array`):

Only holdings whose issuer name or title contains any of these texts, e.g. NVIDIA.

## `assetCategories` (type: `array`):

N-PORT asset category codes, e.g. EC (equity common), DBT (debt), STIV (short-term investment vehicle), ABS-MBS, DFE (foreign-exchange derivative).

## `quarter` (type: `string`):

"latest" (default) or a quarter like 2026q2. SEC publishes one data set per quarter with the N-PORT filings disseminated in that quarter; the first is 2019q4.

## `latestReportPerSeries` (type: `boolean`):

Keep only each fund's most recent report period in the data set (amendments win over the original). Turn off to get every report in the quarter.

## `includeIdentifiers` (type: `boolean`):

Attach ISIN and ticker from the IDENTIFIERS table (adds about 85 MB of reading).

## `maxRecords` (type: `integer`):

Maximum holdings delivered and billed in this run. One record = one holding of one fund in one report.
