## Pricing

from $33.50 / 1,000 portfolio company records

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Khosla Ventures Portfolio Company Scraper

Clean, structured **directory of Khosla Ventures's portfolio companies** — one record per company, from the portfolio's public companies page. Each `portfolio_company` record carries: name, description, funding stage, sector tags, all locations, current open-job count, the company's website, the board company page, the source listing, and when it was observed.

### What it does

- Reads the portfolio board's public companies directory and returns one clean record per company.
- **One company = one record.** A company listed in several locations is a single record with a **deduped location list**, and each company appears — and bills — only once (identity is the company slug).
- Lets you bound a run by count (`maxRecords`) or by filters (`locationContains`, `sectorContains`, `stage`, `nameContains`, `minJobs`, `hiringOnly`).
- Reads the board's own company data only — the company website is never fetched.
- If the board is unreachable, changes shape, or its cards vanish (a redesign), it **stops loudly** — a broken board is never delivered as an empty success.

### Pricing

| Event | Price (USD) |
|---|---|
| `apify-actor-start` | $0.02 |
| `portfolio-company-record` | $0.05 |

`apify-actor-start` is charged once per run by the platform. `portfolio-company-record` is charged once per unique company delivered, and drops with volume ($0.05 → $0.045 → $0.04 → $0.0335). Duplicate companies, filtered-out companies, and empty filtered results bill nothing; a source outage bills nothing.

### Input

- `maxRecords` — cap on company records delivered (buyer-requested bound; default 600).
- `locationContains` / `sectorContains` / `stage` / `nameContains` / `minJobs` / `hiringOnly` — filters.
- `hitsPerPage`, `maxPages` — pagination controls.
- `minRequestIntervalSec` — self-throttle between requests (default 1s).

### Notes

The `active_jobs_count` field is the company's current open roles on the board. Sector tags list the board's visible industry tags first, then any remaining tags, deduped. Descriptions, stage, sector and location are delivered exactly as the board publishes them; a field the board omits is left null.

# Actor input Schema

## `hitsPerPage` (type: `integer`):

Companies requested per API page (Getro caps ~20; default 20).
