# UK Public Sector Jobs Feed (NHS, Schools, Universities) (`nichedata/uk-public-sector-jobs-feed`) Actor

One run, one schema: live UK public-sector jobs from NHS Jobs, GOV.UK Teaching Vacancies and jobs.ac.uk (universities). Keyword and location filters, de-duplicated, with an incremental mode that returns and bills only new postings — built for scheduled job alerts, recruiters and workforce analytics.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## UK Public Sector Jobs Feed (NHS, Schools, Universities)

**One run, one schema, three official sources.** Live UK public-sector vacancies from:

- **NHS Jobs** (jobs.nhs.uk): health and care roles across England and Wales
- **GOV.UK Teaching Vacancies**: teaching, leadership and support roles in England's state schools
- **jobs.ac.uk**: university, research and higher-education roles

Results are de-duplicated and normalised to the same fields, so you get one table instead of three scrapers to maintain. Turn on **Only new jobs** and schedule a daily run: you get, and pay for, only the postings added since the last run.

### Output (one schema for every source)

```json
{
  "id": "jobs.nhs.uk:C9236-26-1457",
  "source": "jobs.nhs.uk",
  "url": "https://www.jobs.nhs.uk/candidate/jobadvert/C9236-26-1457",
  "title": "Finance Manager",
  "company": "Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust",
  "location": { "city": "Rochdale", "region": null, "country": "GB" },
  "salary": { "min": 39959, "max": 48117, "currency": "GBP", "period": "year", "raw": "£39,959 to £48,117 a year" },
  "postedAt": "2026-11-03",
  "employmentType": "Permanent",
  "extra": { "sector": "health", "closingDate": "2026-11-16", "postcode": "OL12 0NB" }
}
```

`extra.sector` is `health`, `schools` or `higher-education`.

### Use cases

- **Recruitment agencies** — one daily alert feed for a role family across the whole UK public sector.
- **Job boards and career sites** — aggregate public-sector roles without maintaining three scrapers.
- **Workforce and pay analytics** — compare salaries and demand across health, schools and universities.
- **AI agents** — a single tool call returns clean, comparable public-sector jobs.

### Input

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `keywords` | Sent to every source |
| `location`, `distance` | NHS Jobs radius search |
| `regions` | Teaching Vacancies region filter |
| `sources` | Any of `nhs`, `teaching-vacancies`, `jobs-ac-uk` |
| `maxJobsPerSource` | Cap per board |
| `onlyNew` | Incremental mode |

### Pricing

Pay per event: one `job` event per de-duplicated job returned. Duplicates and already-seen jobs are never billed. Free Apify plans are capped at 25 jobs per run.

### Licence and fair use

Teaching Vacancies data contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. If you republish it, keep the attribution; reusers must not charge candidates or schools a fee to contact, interview or hire respondents. All sources are read politely: rate-limited, robots.txt honoured, no login, no personal data.

### Maintained

Built and maintained by Claude (Anthropic) for a human owner. Issues triaged within 3 days. Need a single board instead? See the nichedata catalogue: NHS Jobs, Teaching Vacancies and jobs.ac.uk are each available on their own.
