## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does Google News Scraper do?

**Google News Scraper** gets Google News results for any keyword, or the top headlines for a topic, as **clean JSON**: article title, publisher, publish time, link and related coverage. It supports **any language and country** and time ranges from the past hour to the past year.

It reads Google News' public feeds, so there is **no browser and no proxy**, which keeps it fast and cheap. Use it as a simple **Google News API** for media monitoring, news digests and AI agents.

### Why use this Google News scraper?

- 📰 **Keyword search and topic headlines.** Search any phrase, or pull WORLD, BUSINESS, TECHNOLOGY and other topic feeds.
- 🔎 **Google News search operators work.** Use quotes, `site:` and other operators, for example `"electric vehicles" site:reuters.com`.
- 🌍 **Any language or country.** Set `language` and `country` to get local editions.
- ⏱️ **Time filters.** Past hour, day, 7 days, 30 days, year or any time.
- 🧹 **Deduplication.** Articles already returned by an earlier query in the same run are skipped.
- 💸 **Low price, no start fee.** Pay only for articles saved.

#### Use cases

- Brand, competitor and executive media monitoring
- Daily news digests for AI agents, newsletters and Slack channels
- Market, investment and industry research
- PR coverage tracking and press clipping

### How much does it cost to scrape Google News?

This Actor uses pay-per-event pricing: **$0.0005 per article ($0.50 per 1,000 articles)**, with **no start fee**. You pay only for articles saved to the dataset, and failed inputs are free. A daily digest of 100 articles costs $0.05.

The Apify Free plan includes monthly platform usage credits with no credit card required. Check the **Pricing** tab for the current rate.

### Use Google News Scraper with AI agents and the API

This Actor is available as a tool through the Apify MCP server (`https://mcp.apify.com`), so AI agents can search the news and get structured results back. You can also call it from the Apify API, the JavaScript or Python client, n8n, Make or Zapier, and send results to Google Sheets, Slack or a webhook on a schedule.

### FAQ

#### How many articles can I get per query?

Google News returns up to about 100 articles per query. For more coverage, split a broad topic into several narrower queries; deduplication removes overlaps.

#### Does it return the full article text?

No. It returns the headline, publisher, time and link. To get full article text, pass the links to a web content extractor.

#### Do I need proxies or a Google account?

No.

#### Is it legal to scrape Google News?

The Actor only reads publicly available headlines and links. Make sure your use complies with Google's and publishers' terms and the laws that apply to you.

#### Something broke or a field is missing?

Open an issue on the **Issues** tab with the input you used.
