## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Pinterest Scraper – Pins, Profiles, Boards & Search

Scrape **Pinterest without login or API key**: search pins by keyword, extract **user profiles** (followers, monthly views, bio, website, verified badge), all **pins and boards** of a profile, every pin of a **board**, or full details of a **single pin**. Every pin comes with the original image + all sizes, video URL, outbound link and domain, saves, reactions, comments, hashtags, pinner and board. Fast HTTP scraper (no browser) – a 20-pin search finishes in about 3 seconds – and one of the cheapest Pinterest scrapers on Apify at **$0.80 per 1,000 results**.

### What data can you extract?

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `id`, `url` | `252834966578329961`, `https://www.pinterest.com/pin/252834966578329961/` |
| `title`, `description`, `alt_text` | `New colors will blue you away` |
| `image_url` (original) + `image_sizes` (236x, 474x, 736x…) | `https://i.pinimg.com/originals/da/72/…png` |
| `is_video`, `video_url` (MP4), `video_duration_sec` | `https://v1.pinimg.com/videos/…/720p/….mp4` |
| `extra_images` | carousel / idea-pin images |
| `link`, `domain` | `https://www.ikea.com/us/en/cat/billy-series-28102/`, `ikea.com` |
| `created_at` | `2026-10-01T17:35:14+00:00` |
| `saves`, `repin_count`, `reactions_total`, `comment_count`, `share_count` | `1`, `0`, `13`, `0`, `0` |
| `pinner_username`, `pinner_full_name`, `pinner_followers`, `pinner_url` | `IKEAUSA`, `IKEA US`, `771725` |
| `board_name`, `board_url`, `board_id` | `Nurseries & Kids' Rooms` |
| `is_promoted`, `dominant_color`, `hashtags` | `false`, `#394e66`, `["#homedecor"]` |
| `price`, `currency` | product pins (when Pinterest shows a price) |
| **Profile rows**: `username`, `full_name`, `followers`, `following`, `monthly_views`, `pin_count`, `board_count`, `bio`, `website`, `verified`, `is_verified_merchant`, `avatar_url`, `created_at` | `IKEAUSA`, `771725` followers, `10000001` monthly views |
| **Board rows**: `name`, `url`, `description`, `pin_count`, `follower_count`, `section_count`, `owner_username`, `cover_image_url` | `Nurseries & Kids' Rooms`, 400 pins |

Every row has `type` (`pin` / `profile` / `board`), `source_type`, `source` and `scraped_at`, so mixed runs are easy to filter. The dataset has ready-made **Pins**, **Profiles** and **Boards** table views.

### How to use

1. Enter **Search keywords** (e.g. `home decor ideas`) and/or **Pinterest URLs or usernames** – profiles (`pinterest.com/ikeausa/` or `@ikeausa`), boards (`pinterest.com/user/board/`, sections too), pins (`pinterest.com/pin/123…/`), `pin.it` short links or search URLs. Any country domain (de.pinterest.com, pinterest.co.uk…) works.
2. Set **Max results** (exact cap for the run) and optionally **Max pins per source**, profile content (pins, boards, both or profile only) and filters (video pins only, minimum saves, exclude promoted pins).
3. Click **Start** and download the results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or fetch them via API.

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["home decor ideas", "minimalist kitchen"],
  "startUrls": ["https://www.pinterest.com/ikeausa/", "https://www.pinterest.com/pin/252834966578329961/"],
  "profileContent": "pins_and_boards",
  "maxPinsPerSource": 100,
  "maxItems": 500,
  "includePinDetails": true
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per result: **$0.0008 per dataset item ($0.80 per 1,000 pins, profiles or boards)** plus a negligible start fee. No monthly rental, no proxy bill – proxies are included and only used when Pinterest blocks the direct connection. 10,000 pins cost about $8. Compare: other popular Pinterest scrapers charge $2–4 per 1,000 pins.

### Use cases

- **Trend & content research** – find the most-saved pins for any keyword, niche or season.
- **Influencer & creator discovery** – collect profiles with followers, monthly views, website and verified status.
- **Competitor monitoring** – track a brand's pins, boards, saves and posting frequency.
- **E-commerce & affiliate research** – see which product pages and domains get pinned, with outbound links and prices.
- **Image datasets** – original-resolution images, videos and alt text for ML / moodboards.
- **Marketing reporting** – export pin performance to Google Sheets or your BI tool on a schedule.

### Integrations

Use the scraper from the **Apify API**, schedule it, and connect it to **Make, Zapier, n8n, Google Sheets, Slack, Airbyte** or **webhooks**.

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<APIFY_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("ninhothedev/pinterest-scraper").call(run_input={"searchQueries": ["boho bedroom"], "maxItems": 100})
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(item["title"], item["saves"], item["image_url"])
```

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
const client = new ApifyClient({ token: '<APIFY_TOKEN>' });
const run = await client.actor('ninhothedev/pinterest-scraper').call({ startUrls: ['https://www.pinterest.com/ikeausa/'], maxItems: 100 });
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
```

### FAQ

**Is it legal to scrape Pinterest?** The scraper only collects publicly visible data that anyone can see without logging in. Check your local laws (e.g. GDPR) before processing personal data and don't republish copyrighted images without permission.

**Do I need a Pinterest account, cookies or API key?** No. It uses the same public JSON endpoints as the Pinterest website for logged-out visitors.

**Why are saves / comment counts empty for some search pins?** For logged-out visitors Pinterest hides save and comment counts on search results and on some brand boards (these pins also have an obfuscated `e1_…` ID – the URL still works). You still get reactions, pinner, followers, board, date, links and images. Pins scraped from profiles and most boards include full saves, repins and comment counts.

**How many pins can I get?** Search pagination typically returns several hundred pins per keyword; profiles and boards can be scraped fully. Use more specific keywords for more results.

**What about proxies?** Not needed. The scraper connects directly and automatically falls back to Apify datacenter and residential proxies if Pinterest throttles the connection. You can also set your own proxy.

**Can I schedule it?** Yes – use Apify Schedules (e.g. daily trend tracking) and get results via webhook, email or integrations.

**Something broke?** Open an issue on the Issues tab – fixes usually ship within a day. Each run stores a `RUN_SUMMARY` record with per-source status.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):

Keywords to search on Pinterest (like typing in the Pinterest search bar). One search per line. Leave empty if you only want to scrape URLs.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Profile URLs (pinterest.com/nike/), usernames (@nike), board URLs (pinterest.com/user/board-name/, sections supported), pin URLs (pinterest.com/pin/123…/), pin.it short links or search URLs (pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=…). Any Pinterest country domain works.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Exact maximum number of dataset items (pins + profiles + boards) for the whole run. 0 = no limit.

## `maxPinsPerSource` (type: `integer`):

Cap per search query, profile or board (boards of a profile are capped separately with the same number). 0 = only limited by Max results.

## `profileContent` (type: `string`):

For profile URLs/usernames: the profile row (followers, monthly views, bio, website…) plus their pins, their boards, both, or only the profile.

## `includePinDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Fetch every pin's detail page data: creation date, comment & share counts, hashtags, pinner follower count. Turn off for maximum speed (grid data only).

## `searchType` (type: `string`):

Search all pins or only video pins.

## `onlyVideos` (type: `boolean`):

Keep only pins that have a video (for any source: search, boards, profiles).

## `excludePromoted` (type: `boolean`):

Skip pins marked as promoted / sponsored.

## `minSaves` (type: `integer`):

Keep only pins saved at least this many times. 0 = no filter.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

Parallel pin-detail requests.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. By default the scraper connects directly and automatically switches to Apify datacenter and then residential proxies only if Pinterest blocks the connection.
