## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store & Google Play Scraper (apps + reviews)

One Actor for both mobile stores. Search by keyword or pass app IDs, and get:

- **App details** from the **Apple App Store** and **Google Play** in the same format: title, developer, rating, ratings count, installs (Play), price, genre, content rating, version, last update, description, release notes, icon and screenshots.
- **Reviews**: rating, title, text, date, app version, thumbs-up and the developer's reply (Play).
- **Recent-review stats per app**: average rating of the reviews fetched, star distribution and share of 1-2 star reviews. The store rating is an all-time average; these stats show how users feel **now**.

### Example insight

Spotify on the App Store shows **4.77 stars** overall, but its 30 most recent reviews average **3.77** with **23% negative**. That gap is what competitor research, ASO and product teams look for.

### Use cases

- Competitor research before building an app: who leads a keyword in each store and how users rate them lately.
- Review mining for feature ideas and complaints.
- ASO tracking: rating, ratings count and version over time with scheduled runs.
- Feeding reviews to an LLM for sentiment or topic analysis.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `searchTerms` | Keywords, e.g. `habit tracker`. |
| `store` | `both` (default), `apple` or `google`. |
| `appleAppIds` | Numeric IDs or App Store URLs. |
| `googlePlayAppIds` | Package names or Play URLs. |
| `country` / `language` | Store country (`us`, `br`, `gb`...) and Play language. |
| `maxSearchResults` | Apps per term per store (default 5). |
| `maxReviewsPerApp` | Reviews per app (default 20, `0` = details only). |
| `reviewSort` | `newest` or `helpful`. |

### Output

### Notes

- Apple data comes from Apple's official iTunes Search API and public customer-review feed (up to 500 recent reviews per app and country).
- Google Play data uses the open-source google-play-scraper library (MIT).
