## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Pinterest Scraper: Search, Profiles & Boards + New Pins Monitor

Get Pinterest pins as JSON, CSV or Excel without logging in. Search by keyword like you would on pinterest.com, or give profile and board URLs.

**Price: $1 per 1,000 pins.** No start fee. Promoted pins (ads) are skipped and never charged.

### What you get per pin

| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| `title`, `description`, `altText` | `altText` is Pinterest's own description of the image |
| `link`, `domain` | Where the pin sends people. Useful for finding which shops and blogs get traffic from a topic |
| `imageUrl`, `imageWidth`, `imageHeight`, `dominantColor` | Original-size image where available |
| `isVideo`, `videoUrl` | 720p mp4 when Pinterest serves one |
| `reactions` | Total reactions shown on the pin |
| `createdAt` | ISO date |
| `annotations` | Pinterest's visual tags, e.g. "Beige Theme Living Room" |
| `pinner` | Username, display name, follower count, verified-merchant flag, profile URL |
| `board` | Board name and URL |
| `pinId`, `url` | Numeric pin ID and link (profile and board pins, see limits) |
| `imageSignature` | Stable ID of the image, used for de-duplication |
| `isNewSinceLastRun` | Set once the monitor has history for that keyword or URL |

The `SUMMARY` record has one line per keyword or URL with the pin count, plus follower and pin counts for profiles and boards.

### Input

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["fall nail designs", "small garden ideas"],
  "startUrls": ["https://www.pinterest.com/marthastewart/", "https://www.pinterest.com/ikeausa/"],
  "maxPinsPerSource": 300
}
```

### Test run numbers

31 October 2026, 6 keywords, 2 profiles, 1 board, 1 profile that doesn't exist, 300 pins max each:

- 2,425 pins in 144 seconds, platform cost $0.014.
- Title on 84% of pins, description 81%, outbound link 77%, reactions 63%, 27 video pins.
- In keyword search, 31% of pins had no outbound link (uploaded images). The most linked domains were amazon.com, instagram.com, etsy.com and payhip.com.
- The non-existent profile was reported in `SUMMARY` and cost nothing.
- How deep it goes: one keyword returned 856 pins before Pinterest stopped sending more; a profile returned 1,000 when asked for 1,000.

### Monitoring

Turn on **Only pins not seen in earlier runs**. The actor remembers what it returned per keyword or URL and keeps reading until it has `maxPinsPerSource` pins you haven't had before. Pinterest's search mixes its results on every visit, so a keyword monitor is a way to keep collecting fresh pins over time rather than an exact "published today" feed. Use **Monitor name** to keep schedules apart.

### Limits

- **Pin links for search results.** When you're not logged in, Pinterest gives search results a temporary token instead of the real pin ID. We don't publish a link we can't vouch for, so search pins have `pinId` and `url` set to `null` and the token in `pinToken`. Everything else (image, outbound link, pinner, board) is complete. Profile pins come with real IDs and working links.
- **Boards return about 25 pins.** That's all Pinterest shows logged-out visitors. For more, scrape the owner's profile.
- Save (repin) counts aren't in the logged-out data; `reactions` is what's available.
- No comments, no follower lists, nothing behind a login.

### Use the data responsibly

Pins are public, but images are copyrighted by their owners. Use the data for research, trend tracking and analysis, not for reposting other people's images.

### Questions or bugs

Open an issue on the Issues tab with the keyword or URL.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):

Same as typing into Pinterest search. Pinterest returns up to roughly 800-900 pins per keyword.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

https://www.pinterest.com/marthastewart/ (profile pins), https://www.pinterest.com/user/board-name/ (board), or a pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=... URL.

## `maxPinsPerSource` (type: `integer`):

Promoted pins (ads) are skipped and not counted.

## `includeVideos` (type: `boolean`):

Turn off to get image pins only.

## `onlyNewPins` (type: `boolean`):

Monitor mode. The actor remembers pin IDs per keyword/URL and returns only ones it hasn't returned before.

## `monitorName` (type: `string`):

Separate memory for different schedules. Optional.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Apify datacenter proxy is on by default and enough in our tests.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "searchQueries": [
    "minimalist living room"
  ],
  "maxPinsPerSource": 100,
  "includeVideos": true,
  "onlyNewPins": false,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `pins` (type: `string`):

No description

## `summary` (type: `string`):

No description
