## Pricing

from $1.40 / 1,000 jobs

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Seek Australia Jobs Scraper

**Seek** Australia / New Zealand jobs scraper by **keyword** + optional **location**: title, company, salary label, city, work types, listing date, and absolute job URL — one clean Dataset row per listing.

Built for **ANZ recruiting intel**, **salary benchmarking**, **lead gen (AU/NZ)**, and PPE-friendly exports. No browser automation — HTTP + Chrome TLS fingerprint against Seek’s public JSON search API (`/api/jobsearch/v5/search`).

> Seek returns job cards as JSON (`data[]`, ~20 per page, plus `totalCount`). This Actor calls the same endpoint the website uses with `siteKey=au-main` (or `nz-main`), GETs with `curl_cffi` (`chrome124`), maps fields to a stable schema, and paginates with `page=N` until `maxJobs`. **AU residential proxy is optional** (often works without proxy).

**Why this Actor:** Keyword + location · Portals AU/NZ · Clean schema · No Playwright · No email-harvesting claims · Regional SEO (Australia / New Zealand jobs) · Cheap PPE-friendly alternative to bloated multi-board Actors · CSV / API / webhooks ready

**Store icon:** set the Actor icon in Apify Console (PNG not shipped in this repo; `assets/` reserved for later).

### What this Actor does

| Step | Action |
|------|--------|

| 4 | Parse JSON `data[]` + `totalCount` |
| 5 | Map each job → Dataset row (`jobId`, `title`, `companyName`, `salaryLabel`, `jobUrl`, …) |
| 6 | Paginate until `maxJobs`, empty page, or partial page |

**Input:** keyword, location, portal (au/nz), max jobs, proxy.\
**Output:** one Dataset row per job.

***

### Quick start (API)

```bash
curl "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/YOUR_USERNAME~seek-au-jobs/runs?token=YOUR_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "keyword": "software engineer",
    "location": "All Sydney NSW",
    "portal": "au",
    "maxJobs": 20
  }'
```

Then fetch the default Dataset items URL from the run object. Integrate via Apify SDK, webhooks, or schedule for daily ANZ job monitoring.

***

### Use cases

- **Recruiting agencies** tracking open roles in Australia and New Zealand by skill and city.
- **Salary research** using Seek’s `salaryLabel` when advertisers publish pay ranges.
- **Market mapping** for AU/NZ tech, healthcare, logistics, and industrial hiring volume.
- **Lead gen without spam claims** — company names + job URLs for outreach research (no email scraping).
- **Competitive monitoring** vs heavier multi-board scrapers when you only need Seek listings.

***

### Limitations

- Public search-list fields only — does not open each JD detail page or apply forms.
- Does **not** harvest emails, phone numbers, or CVs.
- Structure depends on Seek’s jobsearch v5 JSON shape; major API changes may require an Actor update.
- Aggressive volume without proxy may trigger blocks (HTTP 403) — use Apify AU RESIDENTIAL if needed.
- Salary is a display label (`salaryLabel`), not structured min/max numbers.

### FAQ

**Do I need Playwright?**\
No. The Actor uses HTTP only (`curl_cffi` + Chrome impersonation) against Seek’s JSON search API.

**Which countries are supported?**\
Australia (`au` / seek.com.au) and New Zealand (`nz` / seek.co.nz) via the `portal` input.

**What is `siteKey`?**\
Seek’s API uses `au-main` or `nz-main`. The Actor sets this from `portal` automatically.

**Why are some rows missing salary?**\
Many Seek listings omit `salaryLabel`. The field is null when the source payload has no value.

**What happens on hard failure?**\
The Actor pushes one Dataset row with `error: true` and `errorMessage` describing the failure (e.g. HTTP 403). Empty searches push a non-error row explaining no jobs were returned.

# Actor input Schema

## `keyword` (type: `string`):

Search term as on Seek (e.g. software engineer, registered nurse, warehouse).

## `location` (type: `string`):

Optional Seek location label (e.g. All Sydney NSW, Melbourne VIC, Auckland). Leave empty for all locations on the selected portal.
