## Pricing

from $18.00 / 1,000 lot saveds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## 🔨 Christie's Auction Scraper

Extract lots from **Christie's**, the world's largest auction house: fine art, Asian art, jewellery, watches, handbags, wine, design, books, photographs and more. Get **auction results** (every Christie's sale since 1998: more than 13,000 live and online sales, with the price realised) or **live and upcoming lots** with estimates, current bids and closing times, in one clean table.

Each lot comes with:

- **Price realised** (with buyer's premium) in the sale currency **and in USD**.
- **Low and high estimate**, in the sale currency and in USD.
- **Artist** with birth and death years, title, subtitle, the catalogue description and the consignor line ("PROPERTY FROM THE COLLECTION OF ...").
- Status: sold, unsold, withdrawn, open for bidding or upcoming.
- For online sales: **number of bids**, the **current bid** and each lot's **closing time**.
- The sale: number, title, live or online, city and saleroom, categories, start and end dates.
- Photo, lot link and sale link.
- Add-on: the full lot page, with **details, dimensions, provenance, literature, exhibition history, further details, the saleroom notice, the catalogue essay**, the **specialist's name, title, email and phone**, every photo and the superzoom image link.

### 🎯 Who uses it?

#### 🖼️ Art advisors, dealers and galleries

Pull every Christie's result for an artist, with estimate against price realised, to price a work or back a consignment pitch.

#### 💎 Jewellery, watch, handbag and wine dealers

Track what each Patek Philippe reference, Hermès Birkin or Romanée-Conti vintage sold for in Geneva, Hong Kong, New York and London.

#### 📊 Market analysts, funds and price databases

Feed an art price index with clean USD numbers: estimates, prices, sell-through and dates across 28 years of sales.

#### 🧾 Appraisers, insurers and researchers

Back a valuation with comparable Christie's sales, each with its lot link, provenance, literature and exhibition history.

### ✨ What it does

- **Past results or live and upcoming lots.** Past sales give the price realised; upcoming sales give estimates, current online bids and closing times.
- **Search the way you think:**
  - Search terms ("picasso", "patek philippe nautilus", "hermes birkin"), several per run. Every word must start a word of the artist, title, subtitle, description or consignor line ("monet" finds Claude Monet, not Ramonet); accents and case don't matter.
  - Artist / maker names.
  - **14 categories** (Fine Art, Asian Art, Jewellery, Watches & Handbags, Wines & Spirits, Design, Books & Manuscripts...) and **every Christie's location** (New York, London, Paris, Hong Kong, Geneva, Amsterdam, Milan, Shanghai, United Arab Emirates...).
  - Live or online sales.
- **Or paste christies.com links:** a lot page or a whole sale (every lot in it), on www.christies.com or onlineonly.christies.com. The filters are ignored with links.
- **Every useful filter:**
  - Sold, unsold (including withdrawn) or all lots.
  - **Sale date range**: exact dates, or periods like "6 months" or "2 years".
  - **Price and estimate ranges in USD**, whatever the sale currency.
  - Minimum online bids, words to exclude.
  - 6 sort orders: most recent or oldest sale, highest or lowest price, highest estimate, most online bids.
- **New lots only.** For scheduled runs: saves only lots the same search has not saved before.

### 🏆 Why this scraper

- **Every sale since 1998.** The whole Christie's results archive, not one search page at a time.
- **USD on every row.** Christie's sells in USD, GBP, EUR, HKD, CHF and more (and in guilders, lire and francs before the euro). Each row also has the price and estimates in USD, at the rate on the sale's last day, so results from different cities and decades compare directly.
- **Online bidding data.** Bids, current bid and the exact closing time of every online lot.
- **Specialist contacts.** The add-on gives the name, title, email and phone of the specialist for each lot.
- **Sorts across the whole archive.** "Highest price" really reads every matching sale first, then saves the top lots.
- **Fast.** About 1,000 lots in about 10 seconds (1,000 with full details in under a minute).
- **No proxy needed.** Nothing extra to set up or pay for.

### ⚙️ How the input is organised

| Section | What it's for |
| --- | --- |
| **Maximum lots**, **What to scrape**, **Results** | Always first: caps the whole run (empty means no limit), past or upcoming auctions, and sold, unsold or all lots. |
| **What** | Search terms, artist / maker, or links. |
| **Sale filters** | Category, location, live or online, sale date range. |
| **Lot filters** | Price and estimate ranges in USD, minimum online bids, words to exclude, sort order. |
| **Add-ons** | Full lot details. |
| **Monitoring** | New lots only, with an optional monitor name. |

A lot matching ANY of your search terms is kept; every filter narrows them all. With links, the search terms and filters are ignored.

### 💰 Pricing

Pay-per-event: a one-time **$0.003** when the run starts, plus a price per lot saved to your dataset that drops with your Apify plan. Full lot details are an optional add-on per lot.

| Your Apify plan | Per lot | With full details | 1,000 lots | 1,000 lots with details |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free | $0.024 | +$0.009 | $24.00 | $33.00 |
| Bronze | $0.022 | +$0.008 | $22.00 | $30.00 |
| Silver | $0.020 | +$0.007 | $20.00 | $27.00 |
| Gold / Platinum / Diamond | $0.018 | +$0.006 | $18.00 | $24.00 |

Lots dropped by your filters are not charged. There are no proxy costs. New Apify accounts start with $5 in free credit. On the Free plan a run saves up to 10 lots.

**Speed:** about 1,000 lots in about 10 seconds; 1,000 with full details in under a minute. Price, estimate and bid sorts read every matching sale first, so a sort across the whole archive takes longer: narrow it with a category, location or date range.

### 🚀 Run it

1. Create a free Apify account with $5 in credit.
2. Open the Christie's Auction Scraper.
3. Type an artist or search term (or keep the prefilled one), pick past or upcoming auctions and your filters, then click **Start**.
4. Export the results as CSV, Excel, JSON, or XML from the Dataset tab.

You can also:

- Run it programmatically through the Apify API (`run-sync-get-dataset-items`) or the ApifyClient for JavaScript and Python.
- Schedule it with Apify's built-in Scheduler, with **New lots only** on, to catch new lots as Christie's publishes them.

### 🤖 Use with AI agents (MCP)

Give an AI agent live access to Christie's results through the Model Context Protocol:

```
claude mcp add --transport http apify "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=normdata/christies-scraper"
```

Then prompt it in plain language, for example "what did Christie's sell Monet water lilies for since 2015, in USD?".

### 🔧 Troubleshooting

**`priceUsd` or the USD estimates are empty.**
The rate source starts in 1999, so a few 1998 sales in currencies other than USD have no USD values. The sale currency fields are still filled. USD price and estimate filters skip those lots.

**A sold lot has no `price`.**
Christie's hides the price of a few sold lots (`priceOnRequest` is true). They are kept as sold, with an empty price.

**`bids` is empty.**
Christie's publishes bid counts for online sales only, and not for older online sales or lots it no longer lists on the online sale page (often unsold ones). Live sale rows have no bids.

**`artist` is empty.**
The lot title is not an artist (a watch brand, a wine, an object). The name is still in `title`.

**An upcoming sale has no lots.**
Christie's lists the sale on its calendar before the catalogue is online. Its lots appear in later runs.

**A row has an `error` field.**
Only with the add-on, and only when that lot's page could not be loaded: the base fields are filled, the add-on fields are empty and `error` says why. Rows that worked have no `error`. With the add-on off, its fields are left out of the rows.

**A scheduled "New lots only" run saved nothing.**
Nothing new matched since the last run. Changing terms, links or filters starts a fresh memory; set a **Monitor name** to keep it.

### ❓ FAQ

| Question | Answer |
| --- | --- |
| Do I need a Christie's account? | No. Only public lot data is read. |
| Does the price include the buyer's premium? | Yes, `price` and `priceUsd` are the price realised Christie's publishes. |
| How far back do results go? | To 1998, every sale on the Christie's results pages. |
| Are private sales included? | No. Only auctions, live and online. |
| Is there a result limit? | No. Leave the maximum empty to get everything that matches. |
| Does it need a proxy? | No. |
| Can I track new lots? | Yes. Turn on **New lots only** and schedule the run. |

# Actor input Schema

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many lots in total. Leave empty for no limit (every matching lot). The Apify Free plan is always capped at 10.

## `status` (type: `string`):

Past auctions are every Christie's sale since 1998 (13,000+ sales) with prices realised. Live and upcoming are the sales open for bidding now or published for the coming months, with estimates, current bids and bid counts on online sales.

## `results` (type: `string`):

Sold lots only, unsold lots only (bought in or withdrawn), or every lot of the sale.

## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):

Artist, maker, brand, title, description or consignor words, e.g. "warhol", "patek philippe nautilus", "birkin", "ming vase", "property from the collection of". A lot must contain every word of a term (accents and case don't matter). Several terms: a lot matching ANY of them is kept.

## `artists` (type: `array`):

Keep only lots by ANY of these artists or makers (part of the name is enough), e.g. "Picasso", "Gerhard Richter", "Hermès". Matched against the artist, or the lot title when the lot has no artist.

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Sale pages (christies.com/en/auction/...: every lot of the sale, onlineonly.christies.com/s/.../lots/... too) or lot pages (christies.com/en/lot/lot-..., onlineonly.christies.com/s/...). The filters are ignored with links.

## `categories` (type: `array`):

Keep only sales in ANY of these Christie's categories (a sale can be in several).

## `locations` (type: `array`):

Keep only sales held in ANY of these places.

## `saleType` (type: `string`):

Live (saleroom) auctions or online-only auctions.

## `dateFrom` (type: `string`):

Keep sales ending on or after this date. A date like "2024-01-01", or a period like "6 months" or "2 years". Setting it makes past searches much faster (fewer years to read).

## `dateTo` (type: `string`):

Same format as "Sale date from", e.g. "2024-12-31".

## `minPrice` (type: `integer`):

Past auctions: price realised (hammer plus buyer's premium), in USD.

## `maxPrice` (type: `integer`):

Same price as "Min price".

## `minEstimate` (type: `integer`):

Low estimate in USD at least this.

## `maxEstimate` (type: `integer`):

Low estimate in USD at most this.

## `minBids` (type: `integer`):

Online sales only: keep lots with at least this many bids. Live saleroom sales do not publish bid counts, so their lots are dropped when this is set.

## `titleExcludes` (type: `array`):

Drop lots whose artist, title, description or consignor contains any of these words, e.g. "after", "attributed", "circle of", "print".

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Order of the results. Matters most when you set a Maximum. Price, estimate and bid sorts read every matching sale first, so set a date range with them.

## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Add the lot page to every lot: the full catalogue entry (medium, signature, dimensions), provenance, literature, exhibition history, further details, saleroom notice, the lot essay, the specialist in charge (name, title, email, phone), every photo and the zoom viewer link. Charged as an add-on per lot.

## `onlyNew` (type: `boolean`):

For scheduled runs: save only lots this same search has not saved before. The first run saves everything; later runs save just what is new. Kept per search (terms, links and filters).

## `monitorName` (type: `string`):

Optional. Give "New lots only" a fixed name to keep its memory even after you change the filters.
