## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Sports Odds Tracker — Moneyline, Spread & Line Movement

Name the leagues — NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, WNBA, college football and basketball, and soccer leagues such as the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and MLS — and get one clean row per upcoming game and sportsbook: **moneyline, spread and over/under total** (plus the draw price in soccer), the **opening line**, and how far the line has **moved since it opened**. **$1.00 per 1,000 rows**, no login, no API key.

Run it again — or put it on a schedule — and every row also tells you **what changed since your last run**: `changedSinceLastRun`, the previous moneyline, spread and total, and the move in each (`moneylineMove`, `spreadMove`, `totalMove`), plus `isNew` for games whose lines have just appeared. ESPN only shows you today's line; the history comes from your own runs.

The odds are as ESPN publishes them from its odds providers, for information. This is data, not betting advice. northbell does not take bets and the rows contain no links to sportsbooks — only to ESPN's game page.

### What you get

Every row has `type` (`odds`, `note` or `error`), `league` (for an error row about a name ESPN does not know, the name you typed) and `observedAt`.

| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| `league`, `leagueName`, `eventId`, `name`, `url` | the league key you gave (`nfl`, `eng.1`), its name, ESPN's game id, the game (`Philadelphia Eagles at Jacksonville Jaguars`) and its ESPN page |
| `startAt`, `home`, `away`, `venue`, `neutralSite` | kick-off time (ISO, UTC), the two teams, where it is played and whether ESPN marks the venue as neutral (`null` where ESPN does not say, as in soccer) |
| `provider`, `providerId` | the sportsbook ESPN credits for the line (see Notes) |
| `homeMoneyline`, `awayMoneyline`, `drawMoneyline` | American odds (`-345`, `+275`); `drawMoneyline` is soccer only |
| `homeDecimal`, `awayDecimal`, `drawDecimal`, `moneylineFavorite` | the same prices as decimal odds, and the team with the shorter price (`null` when level) |
| `spread`, `spreadFavorite`, `homeSpreadOdds`, `awaySpreadOdds` | the **home team's** spread (`-7.5` = home gives 7.5 points; the run line in MLB, the puck line in NHL, the goal handicap in soccer), the team giving the points, and the price on each side |
| `overUnder`, `overOdds`, `underOdds` | the game total and the price on over and under |
| `details` | ESPN's own one-line summary of the favourite (`JAX -7.5`, `ARS -260`) |
| `openHomeMoneyline`, `openAwayMoneyline`, `openDrawMoneyline`, `openSpread`, `openOverUnder` | the opening line, as ESPN lists it |
| `moneylineMoveSinceOpen`, `spreadMoveSinceOpen`, `totalMoveSinceOpen` | current line minus opening line. Negative `spreadMoveSinceOpen` = the home team became a bigger favourite; negative `moneylineMoveSinceOpen` = the home price shortened |
| `changedSinceLastRun`, `isNew`, `previousObservedAt` | whether any price or line differs from your previous run, whether this game and book had no row last time, and when it was last read |
| `previousHomeMoneyline`, `previousAwayMoneyline`, `previousDrawMoneyline`, `previousSpread`, `previousOverUnder` | the values from your previous run |
| `moneylineMove`, `spreadMove`, `totalMove` | change since your previous run: `totalMove` of `+1` = the total was raised by a point; `moneylineMove` counts American-odds points over even money (`-110` to `+105` is `15`, not `215`), negative = the home price shortened |

All since-last-run fields are `null` on the first run of a league. A league with nothing to show gets one free `note` row (`gamesInWindow`, `message`); a league ESPN does not know, or cannot be read, gets a free `error` row (`message`).

### Run it again and again

- **On a schedule** — save your input as a task and add a **Schedule**: the same leagues several times a day. Send each run to Google Sheets, Slack or email with an integration on the task.
- **Watch for changes** — Keep the same input on the schedule. Each run is its own dataset with the date it ran, so the series builds up run by run and you can compare one day with the last.
- **In bulk** — Pick every league in **Leagues** in one run.

### Use it for

- **Line-movement tracking** — schedule a run every hour or every day and filter on `changedSinceLastRun` to see which games moved and by how much
- **Your own odds history** — ESPN serves no history of its own, so a scheduled run is how you build one, row by row, for backtests and models
- **Dashboards, sheets, newsletters and apps** — a weekly card of lines for the NFL, a matchday table for the Premier League
- **Comparing books in soccer** — add `"providers": ["all"]` to get DraftKings and Bet 365 side by side where ESPN lists both

### Input

```json
{ "leagues": ["nfl", "nba", "eng.1"], "days": 3 }
```

- **`leagues`** — `nfl`, `nba`, `mlb`, `nhl`, `wnba`, `college-football`, `mens-college-basketball`, `womens-college-basketball`, and soccer: `eng.1` (Premier League), `eng.2`, `eng.3`, `esp.1`, `ger.1`, `ita.1`, `fra.1`, `usa.1` (MLS), `mex.1`, `ned.1`, `por.1`, `sco.1`, `tur.1`, `bra.1`, `arg.1`, `jpn.1`, `ksa.1`, `uefa.champions`, `uefa.europa`, `uefa.europa.conf`, `fifa.world`. Names like `epl`, `laliga`, `bundesliga`, `mls`, `ncaaf` work too. Other ESPN soccer codes are accepted.
- **`days`** — games starting within this many days from now (1 to 14, default 3).
- **`providers`** — optional: leave empty for the book ESPN shows on its scoreboard, name a book (`Bet 365`) to return only that book, or `all`.

Previous values are remembered per league in a named key-value store in your Apify account (`sports-odds-tracker`), so the second run of the same Actor already shows changes. Schedule it (Apify → Schedules) to keep a running history.

### Pricing

**$1.00 per 1,000 odds rows** (one row = one game from one sportsbook), plus $0.01 per run. Note and error rows are free. The $0.01 run-start fee is the one charge every run pays, even one that returns nothing.

### Notes

- **Pre-game only.** Games that have started or finished are skipped. `startAt` decides the window, so `days: 1` means the next 24 hours.
- **Opening line and current line.** ESPN lists an "open" and a current value for every line; the `open…` fields are ESPN's open value and the main fields are the current line until the game starts. ESPN's own line-history endpoint returned no points for any game I tried, so there is no row type for intermediate moves — for those, run on a schedule.
- **Not every game has odds yet.** ESPN shows a line only once the sportsbook has posted it, and that comes at different times in different leagues. Measured on 2026-10-08 over the next 14 days: NFL 29 of 30 games and Premier League 20 of 20 had a line; college football 55 of 55 games in the next 3 days; NBA 6 of 7 games starting within 24 hours but none of 43 games 1 to 10 days out (the season-opening games further out did have one); NHL 10 of 10 within 24 hours, 2 of 18 between 24 and 72 hours, none later; MLB 2 of 16. A game without odds gets no row (the run summary counts it in `gamesWithoutOdds`); a league where no game has odds gets one free note row, and so does an out-of-season league. For NBA, NHL and MLB, run close to game time.
- **Sportsbooks.** By default each game's row is the book ESPN shows on its scoreboard: DraftKings (`providerId` `100`), or Bet 365 where the scoreboard has no DraftKings line for the game (1 of 9 Bundesliga games on 2026-10-08). ESPN spells DraftKings "Draft Kings" in the NFL, NHL and college football and "DraftKings" elsewhere; `provider` is always "DraftKings". Naming a book other than DraftKings in `providers` — or `all` — makes the run also read ESPN's per-game odds feed, one extra request per game, which is where Bet 365 appears. On 2026-10-08 Bet 365 was listed for Premier League, Championship, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and Champions League games and for 2 of 10 MLS games, and not for La Liga, Liga MX, Eredivisie, J1 League, NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL or college football. ESPN decides which books it lists, and that can change.
- **Bet 365 rows are thinner.** ESPN gives moneyline and total for Bet 365 as decimal odds (converted to American odds here; the decimal value is kept in `homeDecimal`, `awayDecimal`, `drawDecimal`), with no spread, no opening line and no `details`.
- **Fields that are only filled sometimes.** `drawMoneyline`, `drawDecimal` and the `openDraw…` fields: soccer only. `neutralSite`: US leagues only. `moneylineFavorite`: `null` when both prices are level. Heavy favourites in college football can come with a spread and a total but no moneyline.
- **Soccer spread.** The spread in soccer is the goal handicap ESPN lists (for example `-1.5`), not a three-way price.
- The run summary (the `OUTPUT` record) counts `oddsRows`, `gamesWithoutOdds`, `newSinceLastRun` and `changedSinceLastRun`. Stored values for games that started more than 36 hours ago are dropped.

### For AI agents

`{"leagues": ["nfl"], "days": 7}` returns one row per NFL game in the next 7 days that has a line, with moneyline, spread, total, the opening line and `changedSinceLastRun`. Rows have `type`: `odds`, `note` (a league with nothing to show) or `error`. Odds are information as published by ESPN, not betting advice.

# Actor input Schema

## `leagues` (type: `array`):

One league per line: nfl, nba, mlb, nhl, wnba, college-football, mens-college-basketball, or a soccer league such as eng.1 (Premier League), esp.1, ger.1, ita.1, fra.1, usa.1 (MLS), uefa.champions, uefa.europa.conf. Names like epl, laliga, bundesliga, mls and ncaaf work too.

## `days` (type: `integer`):

Return games that start within this many days from now (1 to 14). ESPN lists a line only once the sportsbook posts it - NBA, NHL and MLB often only on the day of the game - so a long window can hold games without odds yet; those are counted in the run summary but get no row.

## `providers` (type: `array`):

Leave empty for the book ESPN shows on its scoreboard (DraftKings; Bet 365 for a game where the scoreboard has no DraftKings line). Name a book as ESPN lists it, for example Bet 365 (soccer), to return only that book - this makes the run read ESPN's per-game odds feed too. Use all to return every book ESPN lists.

  ],
  "days": 3
}
```
# Actor output Schema
## `odds` (type: `string`):
Moneyline, spread and total per game, the opening line and line movement since the last run.
