## Pricing

from $1.20 / 1,000 sites

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Tech Stack Detector — CMS, Ecommerce, Analytics & Hosting

Paste a list of websites and see **what each one is built with** — **CMS or site builder, ecommerce platform, JavaScript framework, analytics and ad pixels, chat and marketing tools, cookie banner, CDN, hosting and web server** — with versions where the site shows them. Schedule it with *Only sites whose stack changed* to be told when a competitor or prospect **switches tools**.

### What you get

| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| `domain`, `url`, `finalUrl`, `status`, `title` | the site as opened (after redirects) |
| `technologies` | every technology found: `name`, `category`, `version` (when shown) and `foundIn` (page, script/link, generator tag, header, cookie) |
| `byCategory` | the same, grouped — e.g. `{"Analytics": ["Hotjar", "Google Analytics"]}` |
| `cms`, `ecommerce`, `analytics`, `hosting` | shortcuts for the most asked questions |
| `added`, `removed`, `changedSinceLastRun` | technologies that appeared or disappeared since your previous run |

154 technologies across 34 categories: A/B testing, Advertising, Analytics, CDN, CMS, Cache, Cookie consent, Customer support, Documentation, Ecommerce, Email marketing, Error monitoring, Font, Forms, Headless CMS, Hosting, JavaScript framework, JavaScript library, Live chat, Marketing automation, Monitoring, Payments, Programming language, Publishing, Scheduling, Search, Security, Site builder, Static site generator, Tag manager, UI framework, Video, Web framework, Web server.

The detector reads one page per site (HTML, script and stylesheet URLs, the generator tag, response headers and cookie names). It does not collect email addresses or phone numbers.

### Use it for

- **Sales prospecting** — every Shopify, WooCommerce or HubSpot site in your lead list
- **Competitor monitoring** — get told when a rival changes CMS, analytics or payment provider
- **Agency audits** — what a client's site runs on before a migration quote
- **Market research** — which analytics, chat and consent tools a set of sites uses

### Input

```json
{ "urls": ["apify.com", "techcrunch.com", "allbirds.com"], "onlyChanged": false }
```

Measured on October 7, 2026: 20 well-known sites in 3 seconds — e.g. TechCrunch: WordPress 6.9, Cloudflare Turnstile, Google Tag Manager, nginx; Allbirds: Shopify, Cloudflare, Microsoft Clarity. Sites behind strict bot protection answer 403 and become a free error row. Detection is from what the page shows: technologies loaded only after a click or only for logged-in users are not seen.

### Pricing

**$1.50 per 1,000 sites**, plus $0.01 per run. Error rows and unchanged sites left out by *Only changed* are free. The $0.01 run-start fee is the one charge every run pays, even one that returns nothing.

### For AI agents

`{"urls": ["example.com"]}` returns the technologies with categories. Rows have `type`: `site` or `error`.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Domains or URLs, one per line. The page you give is opened once (usually the home page).

## `onlyChanged` (type: `boolean`):

From the second run on, return only sites that added or dropped a technology. Schedule it to watch competitors or prospects.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "urls": [
    "apify.com",
    "techcrunch.com",
    "allbirds.com"
  ],
  "onlyChanged": false
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `sites` (type: `string`):

Technologies per site, grouped by category.

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "urls": [
        "apify.com",
        "techcrunch.com",
        "allbirds.com"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("northbell/tech-stack-detector").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
