## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## UCC Filings & Lien Search — Tax Liens, CT CO NY OR

**Every company that took secured financing this week, and every company New York put a tax lien on**, straight from state open data. From the Secretary of State UCC records of Connecticut, Colorado and Oregon: the **debtor company**, its city, state and ZIP, the **secured party** (the bank, lender, lessor or lien holder), the **collateral** (Colorado), the filing and lapse dates, and the filing number. Federal (IRS) and state tax liens, municipal and other liens come in the same columns. From New York: the **tax warrants** the Department of Taxation and Finance files against companies, with the **amount owed** and a link to the warrant. Schedule it with **Only filings new since my last run** and each run returns just the filings published since the last one, or **look a company up by name** and get its UCC filings and liens over the last ten years. No login, no API key, $3 per 1,000 filings plus $0.01 a run.

**Try it now. The input is already filled in.** Press **Start**: the 25 newest new filings from each of Connecticut, Colorado and New York come back in about 20 seconds, for about $0.24 (measured on 29 Oct 2026).

| `state` | `filedOn` | `debtorName` | `debtorCity` | `securedParty` | `collateral` / `amount` |

Set **Output** to **Only filings new since my last run** and schedule it daily: tomorrow's run returns just the filings the states publish after today's.

| state | what is published | about how many new filings | updated |
|---|---|---|---|
| Connecticut | UCC financing statements and liens: debtor company, secured party, type, status, accepted and lapse dates | 150 to 250 a day | the next day |
| Colorado | UCC financing statements, IRS and other statutory liens, farm-products notices: debtor company, secured party, collateral text, filing and lapse dates | 300 to 500 a day (all filing types) | 2 to 3 days later |
| Oregon | UCC financing statements, IRS liens, farm-products notices and other liens: debtor company, secured party, filing type, filing and lapse dates, link to the filing image | about 2,600 filings a month | once a month (the previous month's filings, at the start of the month) |
| New York | State tax warrants against companies: debtor company, city and ZIP, amount owed, filing and expiry dates, warrant document; warrants paid in full or vacated | 1,400 to 6,900 companies a week (Sep–Oct 2026) | once a week (Wednesday) |

### Who uses it

- **Lenders, merchant cash advance and equipment finance teams**: a business that just filed a UCC-1 is borrowing now. Filter **Secured party contains** on `capital`, `funding` or a competitor's name to see who they are financing.
- **Credit and KYB checks**: a new IRS or state tax lien on a customer or supplier, the day the state publishes it. Pick **Kinds of filing**: federal and state tax liens.
- **Tax resolution, accounting and business funding**: New York's weekly list of companies with a new state tax warrant, with the amount owed. Add **Releases** to **Which filings** to see which ones were paid.
- **Sales to growing companies**: equipment leases and secured loans point to companies that are buying trucks, machines and stock.
- **KYB and lien search on one company**: put its name in **Debtor name contains**, set **Filed within** to 3650 days and add every kind of filing in **Which filings**: its UCC filings, tax liens, amendments and terminations in the three states come back in seconds (the name goes to each state's own search, so ten years are not read row by row).
- **Lapsed and ended liens**: add **Terminations** to **Which filings** to see the loans that were paid off or released.

### Input

```json
{ "states": ["CT", "CO"], "filedWithinDays": 7, "kinds": ["financing"], "securedPartyContains": ["capital", "funding"], "output": "new" }
```

Look one company up:

```json
{ "debtorContains": ["Example Tools"], "filedWithinDays": 3650, "actions": ["initial", "amendment", "continuation", "termination", "release"] }
```

- **States**: Connecticut, Colorado, Oregon, New York, or all four (empty).
- **Filed within (days)**: how far back to look, up to 3650 (ten years). Colorado publishes 2 to 3 days late, so keep it at 5 or more for Colorado; New York posts once a week, so keep it at 7 or more for New York; Oregon posts the previous month once a month, so use 62 to include it.
- **Kinds of filing**: UCC financing statements, federal (IRS) tax liens, state tax liens, municipal liens, other statutory liens, judgment liens, labor liens, farm products. Empty = all.
- **Which filings**: new filings only (default), or also amendments, continuations, terminations, releases and corrections.
- **Debtor name contains** / **Secured party contains**: keep filings where a name contains one of your words. Debtor words are sent to the state's own search.
- **Companies only** (on by default): debtors with a legal-entity word in the name only. Off adds sole proprietors' trade names.
- **Output**: all filings in the window, or only the filings the state published after your last run with the same settings. Each state adds its filings in one batch (Connecticut and Colorado daily, New York weekly, Oregon monthly); if a run stops at **Max filings per state**, the rest of that batch is not returned later, so set the maximum high enough for one batch (500 by default; New York's weekly batch can reach about 7,000 companies).

### What you get

| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| `state`, `filingNumber`, `originalFilingNumber` | the state, this filing's number, and the number of the original financing statement it belongs to (the same for a new filing) |
| `kind`, `action` | `financing`, `federal-tax`, `state-tax`, `municipal`, `statutory`, `judgment`, `labor`, `farm-products` or `other`; and `initial`, `amendment`, `continuation`, `termination`, `release` or `correction` |
| `filingType`, `lienType`, `status` | the type exactly as the state wrote it, and the status (Connecticut) |
| `filedOn`, `lapsesOn` | the day the state accepted the filing, and the day it lapses unless continued (usually 5 years later) |
| `debtorName`, `debtorCity`, `debtorState`, `debtorZip`, `otherDebtors` | the debtor company and its place; more debtor companies (often trade names of the same business) in `otherDebtors` |
| `debtorEntityIds` | Colorado: the debtor's Secretary of State entity number, when the filer gave it |
| `securedParty`, `securedPartyCity`, `securedPartyState`, `otherSecuredParties` | the secured party (lender, lessor, lien holder) |
| `collateral` | Colorado: the collateral as described in the filing (up to 600 characters) |
| `amount`, `warrantFiledOn`, `closedAs`, `documentUrl` | New York: the amount of the tax warrant in dollars, the day it was filed, `satisfied` or `vacated` for a warrant that ended, and the link to the warrant document on tax.ny.gov |
| `isNewSinceLastRun` | `true` for a filing your last run with the same settings did not return (`null` on the first run) |
| `source`, `license`, `retrievedAt` | the dataset the row came from, its licence, and when it was read |

**A secured party named "C T Corporation System" or "Corporation Service Company, as representative"** is a filing service acting for the real lender, not the lender itself. Lenders often file through them.

**Not returned, on purpose**: people. A filing whose debtors are all individuals (a person's name and no company) is left out, and a secured party who is a person is left blank. The states' company-name field also holds sole proprietors' trade names and, now and then, an owner's own name, so by default only debtors with a legal-entity word in the name (LLC, Inc, Corp, LP, PC, Ltd, Co., Trust, Bank…) are returned; turn off **Companies only** to include trade names. New York's warrant list also holds personal income tax warrants against people: those are filtered out when the Actor asks the state for rows and again before returning them, whatever the **Companies only** setting, and a person named next to a company on a warrant is left out. No street addresses: city, state and ZIP only (many small businesses are run from home). Colorado's hospital liens, which are filed against patients, are not read at all.

### Sources and licences

Connecticut Open Data (data.ct.gov, *Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) Lien Filings*, Office of the Secretary of the State, public domain) and the Colorado Information Marketplace (data.colorado.gov, *UCC Filing Information*, *UCC Debtor Information*, *Secured Party Information* and *UCC Collateral Information in Colorado*, Secretary of State, public domain), Oregon Open Data (data.oregon.gov, *UCC List of Filings Entered Last Month*, Secretary of State Corporation Division, public domain), and Open NY (data.ny.gov, *New York State Tax Warrants: Beginning 7/1/2025*, Department of Taxation and Finance, under the Open NY terms of use, which ask no attribution and set no re-use restrictions). The Actor reads each state's official open-data API one request a second, as the portals ask.

**Colorado data disclaimer** (required by data.colorado.gov's terms): "The data made available here has been modified for use from its original source, which is the State of Colorado. THE STATE OF COLORADO MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTY AS TO THE COMPLETENESS, ACCURACY, TIMELINESS, OR CONTENT OF ANY DATA MADE AVAILABLE THROUGH THIS SITE. THE STATE OF COLORADO EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. The data is subject to change as modifications and updates are complete. It is understood that the information contained in the Web feed is being used at one's own risk."

### Pricing

**$3 per 1,000 filings**, plus $0.01 per run. Filings left out because an earlier run already returned them, and error rows, are free. The $0.01 run-start fee is the one charge every run pays, even one that returns nothing.

### Notes

- **This is the state's index, not the filing document.** The UCC data has no loan amounts (UCC filings do not state them) and no copy of the filed form; New York's tax warrants do carry the amount and a link to the warrant.
- **Colorado's collateral text** is what the filer typed; many filings say only "See exhibit" or list every asset.
- **Oregon publishes one month at a time**: the list holds only the previous month's filings (amendments as well as new filings), so a name look-up in Oregon covers that month only. Oregon lien types other than UCC, IRS, EFS and agricultural services liens come back as `other` with the state's code in `lienType`.
- **Connecticut's tax and municipal liens** come with the debtor company and the town or agency as secured party.
- **New York's warrants start on 1 July 2025**, when the state began filing them with the Department of State. A warrant that is later paid or vacated comes back with `action: release` on the day the state posts that change.
- One row per filing: if the same filing lists two debtor companies, the first is `debtorName` and the rest are in `otherDebtors`.

### For AI agents

`{"states": ["CT"], "filedWithinDays": 3, "maxItemsPerState": 20}` returns up to 20 rows with the debtor company, secured party, kind and dates; `{"states": ["NY"], "filedWithinDays": 7, "maxItemsPerState": 20}` returns New York tax warrants with `amount`. Rows have `type`: `filing` or `error`. For new filings only on a schedule, add `"output": "new"`.

# Actor input Schema

## `states` (type: `array`):

The state records to read. Leave empty for all four. Connecticut, Colorado and Oregon: Secretary of State UCC filings and liens (Connecticut the next day, Colorado 2 to 3 days late, Oregon once a month: the previous month's filings appear at the start of the month, so set Filed within to 62 days to see them). New York: tax warrants the Department of Taxation and Finance filed against companies, with the amount, posted in a weekly batch.

## `filedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):

Filings accepted by the state at most this many days ago (up to 3650, ten years). To look a company up, put its name in Debtor name contains and set this to 3650.

## `kinds` (type: `array`):

Leave empty for every kind. Pick UCC financing statements for companies that just took secured financing, or the tax liens for companies the state or the IRS put a lien on. New York has state tax warrants only.

## `actions` (type: `array`):

Leave empty for new filings only. Add terminations and releases to see liens that ended (for New York, warrants paid in full or vacated).

## `debtorContains` (type: `array`):

Keep only filings where a debtor company's name contains one of these words (e.g. `trucking`, `dental`, or a company name such as `Example Tools`). The words are sent to the state's own search, so a company name with Filed within 3650 days looks up its liens over ten years in seconds. Leave empty for all.

## `securedPartyContains` (type: `array`):

Keep only filings where a secured party (the lender, lessor or lien holder) contains one of these words (e.g. `bank`, `capital`, `funding`, `Internal Revenue`). Leave empty for all.

## `legalEntitiesOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Keep only debtors whose name shows a legal entity (LLC, Inc, Corp, LP, LLP, PC, Ltd, Co., Trust, Bank…). The states' company-name field also holds sole proprietors' trade names and, now and then, an owner's own name (about 1 in 8 debtor names); turn this off to include trade names. New York always returns companies only: its warrant list mixes in personal income tax warrants, which are never read.

## `output` (type: `string`):

With "only new", a scheduled run returns just the filings the state published after your last run with the same settings (each state adds its filings in one batch a day; New York once a week); nothing else is read or charged. If a run stops at Max filings per state, the rest of that batch is not returned later: set the maximum high enough for a day.

## `maxItemsPerState` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many filings from each state (newest first).
