## Pricing

from $0.40 / 1,000 data points

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## World Bank Data Scraper — GDP, Population & 29,000 Indicators

Get **World Bank** development data as clean rows — **one row per country, indicator and year** — from the official API: **GDP, GDP per capita, GDP growth, population, inflation, unemployment, life expectancy, CO2 per person, internet users, government debt, poverty, Gini** and any of the **29,000+ indicator codes** the World Bank publishes. Optionally add each country's **region, income level, capital and coordinates**.

### What you get

| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| `country`, `countryCode` (ISO3), `countryIso2` | the country or region |
| `indicator`, `indicatorName` | e.g. `NY.GDP.MKTP.CD` — GDP (current US$) |
| `year`, `value`, `unit`, `decimals` | the data point |
| `region`, `incomeLevel`, `lendingType`, `capital`, `latitude`, `longitude`, `isAggregate` | with *Add region, income level and capital* |
| `sourceUpdatedAt` | when the World Bank last updated the series |

Short names you can use instead of codes: gdp, gdp-per-capita, gdp-growth, gdp-ppp, gdp-per-capita-ppp, population, population-growth, urban-population, inflation, unemployment, life-expectancy, fertility-rate, infant-mortality, co2-per-capita, internet-users, exports, imports, fdi, government-debt, poverty-rate, gini, electricity-access, renewable-energy, health-spending, education-spending, literacy-rate, mobile-subscriptions, military-spending, tax-revenue, labor-force.

### Use it for

- **Market sizing and country comparisons** — GDP, population and income level for a list of countries
- **Dashboards and reports** — refresh macro indicators on a schedule into a sheet or BI tool
- **Research and AI** — clean panels of country × year data for models

### Input

```json
{ "indicators": ["gdp-per-capita", "inflation", "SL.UEM.TOTL.ZS"], "countries": ["JP", "US", "DE", "IN"], "fromYear": 2010, "includeCountryInfo": true }
```

Measured on October 7, 2026: 3 indicators × 3 countries × 10 years (90 rows) in 13 seconds; the latest inflation figure for every country (169 rows) in 1 second.

Data: **The World Bank, World Development Indicators and related databases, licensed CC BY 4.0** — credit the World Bank when you publish it.

### Pricing

**$0.50 per 1,000 rows**, plus $0.01 per run. Error rows are free. The $0.01 run-start fee is the one charge every run pays, even one that returns nothing.

### For AI agents

`{"indicators": ["population"], "countries": ["all"], "mostRecentYears": 1}` returns the latest population of every country. Rows have `type`: `observation` or `error`.

# Actor input Schema

## `indicators` (type: `array`):

World Bank codes (e.g. NY.GDP.MKTP.CD, SP.POP.TOTL) or a short name: gdp, gdp-per-capita, gdp-growth, gdp-ppp, gdp-per-capita-ppp, population, population-growth, urban-population, inflation, unemployment, life-expectancy, fertility-rate, infant-mortality, co2-per-capita, internet-users, exports, imports, fdi, government-debt, poverty-rate, gini, electricity-access, renewable-energy, health-spending, education-spending, literacy-rate, mobile-subscriptions, military-spending, tax-revenue, labor-force.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

ISO codes (JP or JPN), region codes (EUU, EAS, WLD) or "all". Empty = all countries.

## `fromYear` (type: `integer`):

First year to return. Leave empty to start from the oldest year the World Bank has.

## `toYear` (type: `integer`):

Last year to return. Leave empty to end with the latest year.

## `mostRecentYears` (type: `integer`):

Used when no years are given: the latest N years of each series.

## `includeCountryInfo` (type: `boolean`):

Add the country's region, income level and capital city to each row.

## `includeAggregates` (type: `boolean`):

World, regions and income groups appear as rows too.

## `skipEmpty` (type: `boolean`):

Skip years for which the World Bank has no value.

## Actor input object example

```json
  "indicators": [
    "gdp",
    "population",
    "inflation"
  ],
  "countries": [
    "JP",
    "US",
    "DE"
  ],
  "mostRecentYears": 5,
  "includeCountryInfo": false,
  "includeAggregates": false,
  "skipEmpty": true
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `observations` (type: `string`):

Indicator values by country and year.
