## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Apple App Store Search, Top Charts & App Metadata

Get structured App Store data straight from Apple's own public APIs (iTunes Search/Lookup API and the Apple Marketing Tools charts feed). No browser, no proxies, fast and cheap.

### Three modes

- **search**: keyword search per storefront with the rank of each app. Use it for ASO, competitor discovery and keyword research.
- **lookup**: full metadata for apps you already know (URL or ID): rating, rating count, price, version, last update, release notes, genres, languages, size, developer and more.
- **charts**: Apple's top free / top paid charts per country, optionally enriched with full metadata.

### Typical uses

- Track where your app ranks for a keyword in 10 countries, daily (schedule the Actor).
- Monitor competitors' version, rating and price changes.
- Build lead lists of app developers by category (developer name, website, app URL).
- Compare chart positions across storefronts.

### Input example

```json
{ "mode": "search", "searchTerms": ["budget tracker", "expense manager"], "countries": ["us", "gb", "de"], "maxResultsPerQuery": 50 }
```

### Output fields

`appId, name, bundleId, developer, developerUrl, url, price, formattedPrice, rating, ratingCount, primaryGenre, genres, version, releaseDate, lastUpdated, releaseNotes, description, languages, sizeBytes, icon, screenshots, searchRank / chartRank, country`

### Pricing

Pay per result: $0.002 per app row returned. A 50-result search costs $0.10.

### Notes

- Data comes from Apple's public, documented endpoints. Apple limits search to 200 results per query and charts to 100 rows.
- Need App Store *reviews* too? See our [App Store Reviews Scraper](https://apify.com/northgrid-data/app-store-reviews-multi-country).
- Questions or a field you need? Open an issue on the Actor page; we reply quickly.
