## Pricing

Pay per event

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Luma, Eventbrite & Meetup Events Scraper

**Find tech, AI and startup events in any city from Luma, Eventbrite and Meetup in one clean, deduplicated list.** Enter a keyword like `AI` and a city like `London`. You get every matching event with its date, time zone, venue, organizer, price and link, sorted by start time, in a single dataset you can export to JSON, CSV, Excel or Google Sheets.

No more checking three websites and merging spreadsheets by hand. Events that appear on more than one site are merged into one row, and the other listing links are kept in `alsoListedOn`.

### What you can use it for

- **Community and DevRel teams:** see every AI, cloud or JavaScript meetup in your target cities to plan sponsorships and talks.
- **Founders and sales teams:** find the events your buyers attend this month and who organizes them.
- **Event newsletters and city guides:** build a weekly "what's on in tech" list in minutes.
- **Recruiters:** spot hackathons and developer meetups to source talent.
- **Market research:** compare event activity by topic and city over time (schedule the Actor weekly).
- **Calendars and apps:** feed a Slack bot, a Notion database or your own events page through the Apify API.

### What event data you can extract from Luma, Eventbrite and Meetup

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `title` | Event name |
| `startTime`, `endTime` | Local time in ISO 8601 with UTC offset |
| `timezone` | IANA time zone, e.g. `Europe/London` |
| `venueName`, `venueAddress` | Venue, when the organizer made it public |
| `city`, `country` | City and ISO country code (online events have none) |
| `isOnline` | `true` for virtual events |
| `organizerName` | Organizer, group or calendar name |
| `url` | Link to the event page |
| `isFree`, `price`, `priceMin`, `currency` | Ticket price, or Free |
| `imageUrl` | Cover image |
| `source` | `luma`, `eventbrite` or `meetup` |
| `alsoListedOn` | Other sites listing the same event |
| `matchedKeyword` | Which of your keywords found it |

### How to scrape Luma, Eventbrite and Meetup events

1. Enter one or more **keywords** (for example `AI`, `startup`, `Python`). Leave the list empty to get all tech events in the city.
2. Enter a **city** (for example `Berlin`). If the name is ambiguous, add the country: `Portland, United States`.
3. Optionally set a **date range**, the **sources** and **max results**.
4. Click **Start**, then export the results or connect them to your tools.

#### Input example

```json
{
  "keywords": ["AI"],
  "city": "London",
  "dateFrom": "2026-10-20",
  "dateTo": "2026-11-20",
  "sources": ["luma", "eventbrite", "meetup"],
  "maxResults": 100
}
```

#### Output example

```json
{
  "title": "London AI Meetup x Lovable: What Is Possible Now",
  "startTime": "2026-10-21T18:30:00+01:00",
  "endTime": "2026-10-21T21:30:00+01:00",
  "timezone": "Europe/London",
  "venueName": null,
  "venueAddress": null,
  "city": "London",
  "country": "GB",
  "isOnline": false,
  "organizerName": "London AI Meetup",
  "url": "https://lu.ma/example",
  "isFree": true,
  "price": "Free",
  "priceMin": 0,
  "currency": null,
  "imageUrl": "https://images.lumacdn.com/...",
  "source": "luma",
  "sourceId": "evt-...",
  "alsoListedOn": [{ "source": "meetup", "url": "https://www.meetup.com/.../events/..." }],
  "matchedKeyword": "AI",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-19T16:00:00.000Z"
}
```

### How much does it cost?

This Actor uses **pay-per-event** pricing, so you only pay for what you get:

- **$0.005 per run** (Actor start)
- **$0.003 per event saved** ($3 per 1,000 events)

Example: 100 AI events in London cost about $0.31. Duplicates are merged before saving, so you never pay twice for the same event. You can cap your spend with the maximum cost per run setting in Apify. Platform usage is included in the price.

### Tips

- **Strict keyword match** (on by default) drops loosely related results that the sites' own search returns. Turn it off if you want everything.
- Several keywords in one run are cheaper than several runs, and duplicates between them are removed.
- Luma covers most startup and AI community events. Eventbrite is strongest for conferences and paid workshops. Meetup is best for recurring user groups.
- Venue addresses on Luma are often shown only to registered guests. In that case `venueName` and `venueAddress` are empty and `city` is still filled.
- No proxy is needed. If you ever see blocked requests, turn on Apify Proxy under Advanced.

### Use with AI agents, MCP, Make, Zapier, n8n and the API

#### AI agents and the Apify MCP server

Your AI agent can run this Actor as a tool through the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/mcp). In Claude, Cursor, VS Code or any other MCP client, add this server URL to load only this Actor:

```text
https://mcp.apify.com?tools=northloop-labs/tech-events-finder
```

You sign in to Apify on first connection. Agents that use the default server can also find the Actor with `search-actors` and run it with `call-actor`. Pass `maxTotalChargeUsd` in `callOptions` to cap what one run may cost. The Actor uses pay-per-event pricing, so it also works with Apify's agentic payments.

Example prompt: *"Find AI and startup events in Berlin for the next two weeks and list the free ones."*

#### Make, Zapier and n8n

Apify has official integrations for [Make](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/make), [Zapier](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/zapier) and [n8n](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/n8n). Use "Run Actor", pick `northloop-labs/tech-events-finder`, paste your input as JSON, and send the dataset items on to Google Sheets, Slack, a CRM or email. Inside Apify you can also connect Google Sheets or Slack, or add a [webhook](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/webhooks) that fires when a run finishes.

#### API

Run it and get the results in one call (this endpoint waits up to 5 minutes, which suits small and medium runs):

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/northloop-labs~tech-events-finder/run-sync-get-dataset-items" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"keywords": ["AI"], "city": "Berlin", "maxResults": 50}'
```

Or with the Python client (`pip install apify-client`). The JavaScript client works the same way:

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("northloop-labs/tech-events-finder").call(run_input={"keywords": ["AI"], "city": "Berlin", "maxResults": 50})
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(item)
```

### Data & privacy

- The Actor collects only **public event information** that the sites show to any visitor without logging in: title, time, venue, price, image, link and the **organizer's name** (group, calendar or company name).
- It collects **no attendee or guest data**: no RSVP lists, attendee names, emails, phone numbers or profiles.
- Results are written **only to the run's default Apify dataset** in your own account. The Actor uses no external storage or webhooks, sends the data nowhere else and keeps no copy. A small `RUN_SUMMARY` record in the run's default key-value store holds only counts and errors per source, not event data.

### Is it legal to scrape events?

The Actor reads only publicly available event listings, the same data any visitor sees, and it does not log in or bypass access controls. You are still responsible for how you use the data. Respect each site's terms and applicable laws such as the GDPR, especially if you contact organizers. Read more in Apify's post [Is web scraping legal?](https://blog.apify.com/is-web-scraping-legal/)

### FAQ

#### How much does it cost to scrape Luma, Eventbrite and Meetup events?

$0.003 per event saved plus $0.005 per run start, with platform usage included. 100 events cost about $0.31. The start fee is charged once per GB of memory, and the default 256 MB counts as one. Apify's free plan includes monthly usage credit you can spend on this Actor.

#### How many events can I get in one run?

Up to 5,000 (`maxResults`). The search covers a radius around the city (40 km by default, up to 300 km). The Actor is built for upcoming events, and the date window starts today unless you set `dateFrom`.

#### Can I get a fresh list of events every week?

Yes. Save your input, then add a schedule in Apify (for example every Monday at 8:00) so it runs on its own. Each run returns the full list for your date window. To keep only events you haven't seen, compare `url` or `sourceId` with the previous run.

#### Does it include online events?

Yes, by default. Turn off **Include online events** to get only in-person events in the city, or turn on **Online events only** to get only virtual events.

#### Do I need a Luma, Eventbrite or Meetup account or API key?

No. The Actor reads public event listings without logging in, so you need only your Apify account.

#### Where does the data come from, and is it allowed?

From the public event data that Luma, Eventbrite and Meetup show to every visitor. No attendee or guest data is collected. See "Is it legal to scrape events?" above.

#### Which export formats can I use?

Results land in an Apify dataset. Download them as JSON, JSONL, CSV, Excel, XML, HTML or RSS from the run page, or read them through the API, Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets.

### How this Actor was made

This Actor was made with AI. An AI agent wrote and tested the code, this README and the store listing, and a human owns and maintains the Actor. It reads the public JSON data the sites use for their own pages (the Luma discover API, the Eventbrite search page data and the Meetup search API) rather than parsing HTML, which keeps it fast and stable.
