## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Federal Contract Awards Feed (USAspending.gov)

See **who just won federal contracts**, for how much, from which agency, and when the work ends. The data comes straight from the official, free **USAspending.gov API**, with no API key and no scraping.

### Who it's for

- **GovCon BD teams** tracking competitor wins and finding prime contractors to approach for subcontracting
- **Subcontractors and suppliers** looking for companies that just won work in their NAICS code
- **Capture managers** building a recompete pipeline of contracts that end in the next 3 to 12 months
- **Lenders, factoring firms and analysts** monitoring federal revenue at specific companies

### Two ways to use it

**1. New awards (default).** Contracts whose base award was signed in your window.

```json
{
  "withinDays": 14,
  "naicsCodes": ["5415"],
  "setAsideTypes": ["SBA", "8A", "SDVOSBC", "WOSB"],
  "maxItems": 500
}
```

**2. Recompete finder.** Contracts with recent activity that **end within N days**.

```json
{
  "awardScope": "activity",
  "withinDays": 365,
  "naicsCodes": ["541512"],
  "awardingAgencies": ["Department of Veterans Affairs"],
  "minAmount": 1000000,
  "sortBy": "endDate",
  "sortOrder": "asc",
  "endingWithinDays": 120,
  "maxItems": 200
}
```

In testing, this exact input returned 29 VA IT contracts over $1M ending in the next 120 days, starting with one ending in 36 days.

### Inputs

`awardScope` (new / activity), `withinDays` or `dateFrom`/`dateTo`, `naicsCodes` (2 to 6 digits, hierarchical), `pscCodes`, `awardingAgencies` (top-tier names), `setAsideTypes`, `placeOfPerformanceStates`, `keywords`, `recipientNames`, `minAmount`/`maxAmount`, `includeIdvs` (adds IDIQs, GWACs and BPAs), `endingWithinDays`, `sortBy`, `sortOrder`, `maxItems`.

```
### Pricing (suggested)
**$2.00 per 1,000 awards**, with no start fee.
### Honest caveats
- **DoD and Army Corps of Engineers data is delayed.** Contract actions from the Department of Defense and USACE are published in FPDS, and so in USAspending, about 90 days late ([USAspending data sources](https://www.usaspending.gov/data-sources)), so a "last 14 days" search shows almost no DoD awards. Civilian agencies usually appear within days.
- `awardAmount` is USAspending's obligated amount for the award to date, not the ceiling of an IDIQ.
- One query returns at most 10,000 rows. Narrow the window or filters for bigger pulls.
- `endingWithinDays` filters after fetching. Use it with a narrow NAICS or agency filter and `sortBy: endDate`, `sortOrder: asc`.
- USAspending can be slow at times. The Actor retries automatically.
- This Actor isn't affiliated with the U.S. Treasury or USAspending.gov.
# Actor input Schema
## `awardScope` (type: `string`):
'new' = awards whose base award was signed in the window. 'activity' = any award with a transaction (new award, modification, option) in the window.
