## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

#### ⚙️ **Configuration**

| Parameter | Type | Default | Description |
|-----------|------|---------|-------------|
| `search` | String | – | Keyword to search for, e.g. `notes` or `photo editor`. Apple returns at most 200 apps per keyword and country. |
| `appUrls` | Array | – | App Store URLs (`https://apps.apple.com/us/app/notion-notes-docs-tasks/id1232780281`) or numeric ids to look up directly. Can be combined with `search`. |
| `country` | String | `us` | Two-letter storefront code deciding availability, price and currency, e.g. `gb`, `de`, `jp`. |
| `maxItems` | Integer | `0` | Max apps to return (0 = all). |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Object | Apify Proxy (auto) | Proxy settings. Switch to RESIDENTIAL only if results are empty. |

At least one of `search` or `appUrls` is required.

##### Example Input

```json
{
  "search": "photo editor",
  "appUrls": ["https://apps.apple.com/us/app/notion-notes-docs-tasks/id1232780281", "324684580"],
  "country": "gb",
  "maxItems": 0
}
```

##### How many apps can it get?

A keyword search returns **up to 200 apps** (Apple's limit for the Search API; it offers no reliable paging beyond that). Use several narrower keywords or several countries to cover more apps. Direct lookups by id have no such limit — list as many `appUrls` as you need (100 ids per request).

##### Getting an app URL

1. Open the app's page on the App Store (`apps.apple.com/{country}/app/{name}/id{number}`)
2. Copy the full URL from your browser (or just the number after `id`)
3. Add it to the `appUrls` list

#### **Is it legal to scrape App Store data?**

It is legal to scrape publicly available data such as app names, prices, ratings and descriptions. The results may include developer names and links; use them only with a legitimate reason. Consult your legal advisor if unsure.
