## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### App Store Reviews Scraper

***

Scrape **customer reviews of any iOS app** from the Apple App Store. Provide the app's App Store URL (or its numeric id) and one or more countries — the Actor reads Apple's public review feed and returns every review as structured data: rating, title, text, author, app version, helpful votes and date, plus the app name and developer.

#### **📋 Example Output**

```json
{
  "id": "14661465107",
  "appId": "1232780281",
  "appName": "Notion: Notes, Tasks, AI",
  "developer": "Notion Labs, Incorporated",
  "country": "us",
  "title": "Stop Removing Useful Functionality",
  "text": "I’m on a iPad. Stop removing useful features. The sidebars collapse/expand on pages is no longer there anymore.",
  "rating": 1,
  "author": "MrArkansas870",
  "authorUrl": "https://itunes.apple.com/us/reviews/id43375658",
  "version": "1.7.346",
  "votedHelpful": 2,
  "updatedAt": "2026-10-13T05:15:16-07:00",
  "url": "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id1232780281?see-all=reviews",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-23T20:04:11.881Z"
}
```

`rating` is 1–5, `votedHelpful` is the number of "helpful" votes, `updatedAt` is the review date in the storefront's time zone and `url` is the App Store page listing the app's reviews in that storefront (Apple does not publish per-review links).

#### ⚙️ **Configuration**

| Parameter | Type | Default | Description |
|-----------|------|---------|-------------|
| `appUrl` | String | *(required)* | App Store app URL, e.g. `https://apps.apple.com/us/app/notion-notes-docs-tasks/id1232780281`, or the numeric id alone (`1232780281`). |
| `countries` | Array | `["us"]` | Two-letter storefront codes to collect reviews from, e.g. `["us", "gb", "de", "jp"]`. Left empty, the country from the URL is used. |
| `maxItems` | Integer | `0` | Max reviews to return across all countries (0 = all available). |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Object | Apify Proxy (auto) | Proxy settings. Switch to RESIDENTIAL only if results are empty. |

##### Example Input

```json
{
  "appUrl": "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/notion-notes-docs-tasks/id1232780281",
  "countries": ["us", "gb", "de"],
  "maxItems": 0
}
```

##### How many reviews can it get?

Apple's feed exposes the **500 most recent reviews per country** (10 pages of 50; Apple refuses deeper pages). To collect more, add more countries — each storefront has its own reviews. Reviews are returned newest first, so a scheduled run with a small `maxItems` is a cheap way to keep up with new feedback.

##### Getting the app URL

1. Open the app's page on the App Store (`apps.apple.com/{country}/app/{name}/id{number}`)
2. Copy the full URL from your browser (or just the number after `id`)
3. Paste it as the `appUrl` input and list the countries you want

#### **Is it legal to scrape App Store reviews?**

It is legal to scrape publicly available data such as app reviews and ratings. Reviews contain personal data (reviewer nicknames and profile links); scrape and store personal data only with a legitimate reason and in line with GDPR/CCPA. Consult your legal advisor if unsure.
